Pond field primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Apologies - very little.

Disliked The site feels like a forgotten field down a long, bumpy track. The toilet facilities were beyond basic and no shower that I saw. I understand there are showers on the other site but that should not the only option.
The washing up facility was a single, non-plumbed sink on a wood stand, so pointless almost.
The site notes 20 mins to Hever Castle, it's more like 40 along quite dangerous roads.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review.
In response, we would like to point out we advertise Pond Field to be more remote with cold water and flushing toilets only (not compost or portaloos, but a clean, stocked cabin with proper flushing toilets)
We decided to add the kitchen sinks to offer a place for people to wash up near to the water, so they don't have to hike it back to their pitch; and also have sinks at waist height to save people's backs bending over washing up at ground level, or on their own camping tables. Yes it isn't plumbed in, as neither are the washing bowls people would have to take back to their pitches.
We advertise the field as down a bumpy track, and people are advised of the 5mph speed limit. Our guests pay to be back to nature in a field that is visited by deer, under a blanket of uninterrupted stars on clear nights, and far from the road.
The option for being in Farm Field, with hot water amenities, showers, food wagon and direct road access is given when filling out the booking form- and guests in pond field are most welcome to walk the farm track to Farm Field to access any amenities they may need, or drive the 2 minutes up the road.
I can assume you walked the road way to Hever Castle- we do have maps on the walls of the toilet blocks advertising the 20minute route to Hever via the lane and footpaths. This route is mainly off-road, and much quicker than your 40 minute walk down the main road.
We wish you well on any further camping adventures you have, and remind you that our family works tirelessly to provide everything for campers visiting us- for £12 for an adult a night- from toilet cleaning & restocking, improving facilities, insurances, staffing, helping people with dead car batteries/phones/airbeds- lifts to stations, guidance on everything you can think of, litter picking, organising free events- and after long hours and long seasons, it hurts that you describe our field as 'forgotten'- I assure you it is not- we love what we do, and put everything we have into it.

Farm field primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked The friend was great had lots of space and even picnic tables which came in handy for us. There is also play area for the children and they had a great time. The staff are very friendly and helpful and facilities are good and clean.
We had to check out at 11 but they let us stay so we could watch the local tractors come round the field which the children loved. There is also a games and book section to access whilst there too and a love band on the Saturday night!

Pond field primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful.
They helped us bring our luggage to and from pitch which was a lovely touch and something you don't get with a lot of other campsites.
Check in time is perfect at 10am giving people a chance to properly set up.
Check out is fine but could do with being a little later.
A very cozy nice atmosphere.
Lovely scenic country walks
Toilets were cleaned 👌
Showers clean and functional
I loved the fact it gave you a feel of wild camping which I've actually never done but always wanted to try.

Disliked The food in the Wheelers wagon and the fact it was the only option for miles out.
It is in fact a 40 minute walk from Hever Castle not a 20 minute walk that information was false.
Certain people next to us kicking a ball at my tent and being very loud and rude didn't let nasty people ruin it for us but you will always get that one annoying family! However, this is not a reflection on the park but more a reflection on who comes on park and guests should respect other guests.
The fishing lake isn't great.

Farm field primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked It was peaceful after the bank holiday people went home. Nice view of the countryside from the top of the field. Staff were pleasant and helpful. The showers were spacious and warm, but could do with somewhere to sit for older people.

Disliked Rather hilly. Even on a flat part we were on a slope. There’s nothing to dry hands on in the bathroom. There was no hot water in the washing up area.

Pond field primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked We could book & go camping very last minute family of 4 & 2 grandparents on a fabulous sunny bank holiday weekend. Proximity to London less than 90 min drive. Could choose where to pitch up within the field. Bathrooms cleaned regularly. Coffee shop with hand made artisan coffee on site! Plus little bar for schools drinks or smoothies/milkshakes plus a food waggon for fries & other food bits. Being in nature the pond field & the little play areas. Rustic nature of camping.

Disliked It could be helpful to have a light in the bathroom for the Pond Field for evening however it didn’t affect us as we had our torches. It would also be helpful to have a tap & plumbing for a waste water on the washing facilities in pond field but again it didn’t affect us as. It was helpful to have the sink & we used the water there to fill our wash bowl. £120 for 2 nights is pricey for camping I thought (I don’t book often so maybe it’s not) but aware bank holiday & we booked last min. Equally aware everything is expensive now & maybe that’s quite reasonable £20/pp/night just because I was the one booking for the 6 it’s an expense. Very reasonable if you’re one person maybe. Just will always camp with 4-6.

Pond field primitive grass campervan campsite

Liked Location, lots of pleasant walks and especially beautiful at dusk.

Disliked Toilets in Pond Field are poor and clearly insufficient for the quantity of guests. The steps to access are steep and would be very difficult with small children, and the floors were constantly wet and slippery (no rain, just leaks I think). No cleaning during our time there.

Farm field primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Good sized field. Staff were helpful, friendly and informative. Toilets and showers were clean with staff checking regularly.
Nice big field with plenty of room for ball games

Disliked Showers were a bit intermittent hot cold and struggling with water pressure. As it was warm it wasn't a problem but if it was colder I would have struggled without a good hot shower! No hot water for washing up!
On 2nd night got a lot busier and arriving campers put tents very close...so very little quiet space....should consider limiting car access as our view was spoilt by 5 vans parking right in front of out tent.

Local attractions

First port of call around these parts simply has to be the excellent Hever Castle (20 minutes' walk or five minutes' drive): the childhood home of Anne Boleyn has plenty of attractions to keep you busy for a full day out, including a water maze, playgrounds and a fab series of summer events including things like jousting tournaments and open-air theatre shows. For a bit more on the local history front, head to Chartwell (15 minutes' drive), a long-term haunt of Winston Churchill, or to Penshurst Place (10 minutes), where you can tour the medieval manor or trot around the estate's 100 acres, taking in the lakes, adventure playground and woodland trails along the way. More of the past is on display in Chiddingstone (five minutes), a well-preserved Tudor village managed by the National Trust. Need something to keep the kids entertained? Edenbridge (10 minutes) has a well-maintained public leisure centre nearby if they've got excess energy to burn off, while trips to top local theme parks like Diggerland Kent (55 minutes) or zoos like the UK Owl and Raptor Centre (20 minutes) could also be in the offing.
