What customers say

This well-kept, quiet site near Pooley Bridge & Ullswater gets kudos for friendly staff, clean washrooms, and spacious, level pitches. Pods offer good value. Minor gripes include Wi-Fi, shower pressure, and evening sun. Some walks aren't stroller-friendly.

Camping pod (no pets)

Liked What a beautiful, well presented and kept site. The pod we stayed in was at the top of the site which was peaceful and relaxing. The pod was spacious, clean and comfortable. It was lovely to sit and watch the red squirrels and rabbits roaming around.
The site was very welcoming with lovely staff.

Disliked Nothing

FHU cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite (maximum 8 metres)

Liked Nice quietish site, and fairly clean. Didn’t find the people in the shop over welcoming, but the workers around the site were super friendly and happy!

Disliked Absolutely no privacy, especially if you were in the ‘inner circle’ of the road as we were. Felt we were literally right on top of both neighbours, and the neighbours behind us. Felt like we were invading their tea time! Also, as pitches were so close, the amount of bbqs going felt as if we were being smoked out. Not pleasant.

Camping pod (pet friendly)

Liked Size of the pod and the amenities provided. Location of pod. Communication about check in and traffic was excellent!

Disliked Not sure if we missed it- but would have been good if there was a play park for kids on site.

Camping pod (pet friendly)

Liked Loved our stay here, close to Pooly bridge village, lots of walking treks to do beautiful views within a 5 minute walk to the lake where you can go for a swim or do some paddle boarding. Shop on site for essential items, some amazing local restaurants worth a try. Bus is easy to hop on and visit loacl attractions.

Disliked Some of the staff members where I bit rude in my opinion however we didn’t let it ruin our stay.

Local attractions

Waterfalls, walks, watersports, history and heritage are all here: start off with the miles of bridleways around Ullswater, all linked by Ullswater Steamer routes, and take the circular route around Maiden Castle which starts and ends at Waterfoot Caravan Park. The site is surrounded by the Dalemain Estate which has five acres of gardens and swathes of historic parkland; the house and gardens themselves are less than two miles away (the cream teas are heartily recommended). At least a day must be had on and around Ullswater, the Lake District’s second biggest lake, for a trip on Lady Dorothy or one of the other steamers; a spot of sailing, diving or boating, or a scale up Helvellyn, England’s third highest mountain and lying at Ullswater’s south (stagger to Glenridding village afterwards for refreshments). Wildlife including red deer and those red squirrels can be spotted in many Lake District woodlands and fells, but to maximise your chances of a sighting, scurry along to the flagship red squirrel reserve at Whinlatter Forest near Keswick, where there’s also a red squirrel trail with a visitor centre and rope bridge..
