What customers say
This campground's prime location means Keswick's shops and services are just a short stroll away. Guests rave about the spotless washrooms and even ground. Some mentioned a scarcity of showers and occasional noise/parking hiccups during peak times. It's a solid deal for brief getaways, and many plan to revisit.

Nice small quiet site
Primitive grass and earth tent campsite
Liked Easy going small site, dry ground with some wind protection and clean toilets. Ideal location for hiking or just to have a nice weekend away.
Disliked Bit of a pain carrying all camp equipment from the car as we were staying 2 nights and needed to cook etc but a 1 night stay would be fine

Fab site that does what it says. Basic, clean, perfect for short stays
Primitive grass and earth tent campsite
Liked Toilets were clean and tidy.
Short walk from Spar and Twa Dogs pub although we didn't use either.
Only 5 mins drive to town/shops with a range of places to eat.
Park nearby
Easy to find, well signposted
Lots of birds around in the day and bats in the evenings.
Flat, gravelled carpark, had no issues parking.
Disliked Ground was very hard just under the surface but this wasn't an issue, after reading similar reviews prior I bought some heavy duty steel tent pegs from home bargains which went in no problem, would recommend having a mallet.
Feel like this site would be much cheaper in other places but it's the lakes and everything is expensive. It was the cheapest option to make our 2 night stay possible and we were happy with everything while there.

Great stop off for 1 night…
Primitive grass and earth tent campsite
Liked Great stop off for 1 night during my Cumbria Way hike. Easy to find location, flat pitch and clean toilets.
Disliked No showers, didn't matter to me, i was only there 1 night but i think for the price showers should be provided or the price should be at least £10 cheaper. Note. . I did know beforehand that there wasn't going to be showers i just think it should be cheaper without them.

We are pleased to hear you found the toilet clean and we are sorry the noise from the neighborhood affected your stay, especially late at night.

Convenient but expensive
Primitive grass and earth tent campsite
Liked Distance to Keswick was perfect for being able to walk into town. And it had a spot available when we needed it last minute on the bank holiday when everywhere else was booked. It is what the picture suggests, just essentially a big fenced in field on the outskirts of the town. For what we wanted it was perfect (and overnight flying visit) but I wouldn't have wanted to be spending my evenings there.
Disliked The price. For what it was it was incredibly expensive. There was noone onsite which meant that people playing music way into the night (3am) weren't asked to be quiet, there was noone enforcing parking efficiently so there wasn't anywhere near enough room for the cars trying to park there. The toilets were not clean, no sanitary bins in the womens and so someone had just been leaving used sanitary pads on the floors. I'd probably have been happy paying £15 for it.

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased our location worked well for your visit and that we were able to accommodate you over the busy bank holiday weekend.
We’re sorry to hear aspects of your stay did not meet expectations. Bank holiday periods can be particularly busy, but noise disturbance and cleanliness issues are certainly not the experience we aim to provide. Your comments regarding parking organisation, toilet cleanliness, and sanitary facilities have been noted and will be reviewed with the team to help us improve moving forward.

Fine for a one night stopover.
Primitive grass and earth tent campsite
Liked Campsite is clean and level.
Conveniently close to town.
Ablutions are clean.
Disliked Limited toilets so could have quite a wait when campsite is busy.
No showers so would not be ideal for an extended stay (only stayed 1 night so was manageable)

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback.
We are glad you found the campsite clean, level, and conveniently close to town, and that the facilities were kept clean during your stay.
We appreciate your comments regarding the limited number of toilets and the lack of showers. Your feedback is very helpful and will certainly be taken into consideration as we continue to improve the campsite experience for our guests. We are pleased to hear that despite this, your one-night stay was manageable and enjoyable overall.

Located near to Keswick town centre,…
Primitive grass and earth tent campsite
Liked Located near to Keswick town centre, local spar nearby and not a massive campsite so mostly peaceful
Disliked Car parking generally a bit limited, we got there early so we were ok. Good if you want to park and leave your car, may be more difficult to get re parked if you are using your car to get about and about

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback.
We are really pleased you enjoyed our location close to Keswick town centre, the nearby SPAR, and the quieter atmosphere of our campsite.
We also appreciate your comments regarding parking. Spaces can become a little limited at busier times, so arriving earlier can definitely help.
For guests planning to leave the car parked and explore on foot, it tends to work well, but we understand it may be a little trickier for those coming and going throughout the day.
We hope to welcome you back again soon.

Excellent
Primitive grass and earth tent campsite
Liked Easy walking distance to Keswick town centre, Fitz Park, and various river & woodland walks. Dog friendly with sensible rules applying. Good car parking area separate from tent pitching field. Toilet and sinks/vanity mirrors ideal and well maintained. Lack of showers not a problem for the small number of days stay.
Disliked Only problem was difficulty finding the site. Signage at entrance from town direction good, but wasn't visible from the A66 into town direction. If the website were to say the campsite is tucked in behind Denton House that would have been a feature to look out for. No other suggestions, as it was a fantastic find!

We are really pleased you enjoyed the location, walks into Keswick, and found the site dog-friendly and well maintained. Great to hear the facilities and parking worked well for your stay too.
We appreciate your note about the signage from the A66 that’s really helpful. We’ll look at how we can make directions clearer, including mentioning Denton House as a landmark.
Hope to welcome you back again soon!
