Beautiful riverside spot, praised for spotless washrooms & well-kept pitches. Easy access to York via transport, including a river taxi. On-site cafe & restaurant are highlights. Some mention Wi-Fi issues, few wash-up sinks, & early food outlet closing.

Powered grass and gravel travel trailer campsite (large, no awning)
Liked Spacious, immaculate pitches. Plenty of space on the gravel to step onto and then the grass area was perfect for sitting in the sunshine. Shower blocks - wow ! Very nice and clean each time of use. The whole area is kept immaculate and it was a pleasure to stay.

From the manager: Thank you, Donna, for your lovely review.
We are delighted to hear how much you enjoyed your stay, particularly the space and condition of the pitches. It is great to know the layout worked well for you, giving you both a practical and relaxing area to enjoy the sunshine.
Your comments about the shower blocks are especially appreciated. The team work very hard to keep all facilities to a high standard, so it is fantastic to see that recognised.
We are very pleased you had such a positive experience and look forward to welcoming you back again soon.
Loved this neat site with great facilities. I’ll be back…
Powered grass and gravel travel trailer campsite (no awning, small)
Liked Very neat and well maintained site. EHU and water on the pitch I was on. Great shower block facilities - stylish. Cafe with freshly cooked food open until 4 pm. Lovely ice cream - which I had one both days I was there. Yum. Plenty of seating both riverside and between the cafe and Bosun’s restaurant. Bosun’s is a very nice restaurant. On the higher side but yes a great restaurant. The pods on the riverside were very nice. Self check in - so just park on the pitch allocated to you and set up.. Boat hire available and the also the riverboat ferry into York. Bus stop at the top of the lane into York also. Couple of pubs in the village. Walks along the riverbank. I’m definitely coming back in the future and don’t understand the 4 rating further down. I loved this site. No awnings mean that the lovely grassed area within the pitch remains looking fresh.
Disliked Nothing in particular for me, but some people might not feel comfortable with no security barriers. As long as this is highlighted then everyone is aware. I liked the fact I could get straight onto my allocated pitch.

From the manager: Thank you, Wendy, for such a fantastic and detailed review.
We are delighted to hear how much you enjoyed your stay and that so many aspects of the site stood out for you, from the facilities and pitch setup through to the café, pods and riverside setting. It is great to know the overall layout and feel of the site worked so well, and that you were able to make the most of everything on offer, including the ice cream.
Your comments on Bosun’s are also very much appreciated, and we are pleased you enjoyed the experience there. It is always encouraging to hear such positive feedback across both the site and the restaurant.
We also appreciate your feedback regarding security and access. Our approach is to keep the site open and accessible, but we recognise that preferences can vary, and your point about setting clear expectations is a very helpful one.
Smart site with bus access to city nearby.
Powered grass and gravel travel trailer campsite (large, no awning)
Liked Location next to river and cafe on site.
Own water tap for each pitch .... alas no drain, required a lengthy walk across the graveled road to the one waste water disposal point.
Disliked Very clean toilet facilities but would benefit from privacy cubicles.
Gravel roadway noisy, would be better with a tarmac surface.

From the manager: Thank you for your detailed feedback Malcolm
We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the riverside location, the café, and the overall cleanliness of the facilities.
In terms of drainage, due to the nature of the site and its susceptibility to winter flooding, we are not able to provide individual drainage to each pitch. Instead, we operate with centralised disposal points for grey and chemical waste. This approach allows us to preserve the condition and usability of the pitches whilst we are open throughout the season.
Regarding the toilet facilities, the Café Bar toilet is fully lockable for privacy, and all toilets within the main shower block are located within individual private cubicles. We will continue to review how this is presented to ensure it is clear and meets expectations.
We also note your comments on the roadway. Gravel forms part of the site design and drainage approach, but your feedback is appreciated and will be considered as part of longer-term planning.
Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback. It is very helpful as we continue to refine and improve the overall guest experience.

Liked Excellent facilities (shower / toilet block), well maintained surroundings, very tidy and clean.
Disliked Lack of recycling facilities. We were told BBQs were not permitted only to witness several during our stay.
Not a dislike but we didn’t see the owners during our stay.

From the manager: Thank you, Leah, for your detailed feedback.
We are really pleased to hear that you found the facilities to be of such a high standard and appreciated how clean and well maintained the site is. That is something the team put a great deal of effort into, so it is very rewarding to see it recognised.
In terms of recycling, this is managed in conjunction with our waste partners and is handled in line with the required standards, although we appreciate that it may not always be as visible as some guests expect. Your feedback is helpful as we continue to review how this is communicated on site.
We also note your comments regarding BBQs. We do allow gas BBQs; however, open or naked flames are not permitted for safety reasons. We will continue to ensure this is applied consistently and clearly.
Regarding staff presence, the team is always available either on site or close by, and we do provide a contact number for guests to use if required. That said, we will take on board your comment around visibility as we look at how we can make access to support even clearer during stays.
Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback. It is genuinely appreciated and helps us continue to improve the overall experience.

From the manager: Thank you, Steph, for your feedback.
We are really pleased to hear that you found the site clean and well maintained.
We do note your comments regarding food availability. The café currently operates with set opening hours, and Bosun’s is open later in the week, which does mean there are times when food options on site are limited. That said, there are also a number of pubs and a shop within a short walk in the village, providing alternative options nearby.
We continue to review our onsite offering alongside demand patterns, particularly during weekends and peak periods.
We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts and hope to welcome you back again in the future.

Liked Lovely site very clean excellent facilities, great little food hut and loved the pods you could sit in to eat and admire the view. Walking excellent down the river and into York. Village is an easy walk with a lovely pub doing food and there’s a convenience store there. Shame we missed the restaurant being open as we left on Thursday, just means we will have to come back for a weekend stay!

From the manager: Thank you, Louise, for such a lovely and detailed review.
We are really pleased to hear how much you enjoyed your stay, from the cleanliness and facilities through to the café and riverside setting. It is great to know the pods added to your experience and that you were able to make the most of the walks into York and the nearby village.
It is a shame you just missed Bosun’s being open, but as you say, that gives you a great reason to return for a weekend stay.
We really appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback and look forward to welcoming you back again soon.
