What customers say

A great basic campsite with stunning sea and abbey views. Close to town and brewery. Friendly staff. Facilities are simple but okay for short stays, though showers can be scarce and loos busy. Expect wind!

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Friendly staff, great location, flexibility to add more nights or pay £5 to park until 6pm on your departure day.
Toilets on site, elsan points and fresh water also available.
Good atmosphere, no real noise at night despite it being busy.

Disliked We don't mind the walk i to whitby but for some it could be a little too far.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked We will definitely be returning, we love the location near the Abbey and 199 steps into Whitby
The site is huge and such a lovely camping community, everyone is kind and respectful
Lots of families keeping the site tidy on departure
It was nice to get away and do some well deserved family team bonding, helping each other erect the tent, cooking food, having fun family conversations and packing everything away.
A lovely family atmosphere
Staff are very friendly and helpful

Local attractions

Not quite done with seaside days just yet? Make the 35-minute drive to Scarborough, farther south on the Yorkshire coast, where – as well as more sandy stretches – guests can explore the Scarborough Fair Collection, get adrenaline pumping at Luna Park, wander about the Italian gardens, and spy out the marine species at Sea Life Sanctuary. Turn away from the sea, then, for inland explores starting in the sprawling North York Moors National Park (10 minutes), which is home to Go Ape Dalby treetop courses (35 minutes) and the rides and animal shows at Flamingo Land (40 minutes). There’s a healthy dose of history to be had hereabouts too, with Ormesby Hall (40 minutes), Nunnington Hall (55 minutes), Rievaulx Terrace (one hour) and the spectacular Castle Howard (55 minutes) – famed double for Brideshead in both productions of Brideshead Revisited – within relatively easy reach.
