What customers say

This clean, quiet site has friendly staff & great washrooms. Close to Beamish. Some found Wi-Fi, pet fees, and shop stock pricey. Pods/pitches could be small/sloped. Occasional camper noise noted.

Powered grass campsite

Liked Lovely clean facilities. Staff friendly and helpful. Good location for visiting beamish which is why we booked it.

Disliked We thought this was overpriced. No dedicated gray water disposal points for motorhomes. Only one Chemical waste point absolutely filthy with no way of cleaning - fixed tap with no hose. Pitches very small lots or tents cramped together.

Gypsy wagon

Liked Great playground.
Shower block is cleaned to a high standard.
Compact but well laid out site.
I would stay in the carvan or tents again like I have previously.
Bar is probably the cleanest and most modern clubhouse ive ever been too.

Disliked Gypsy caravan isnt in the best condition it could be. Net curtain wire hanging down with no curtain. Mould on the door. Huge gaps in the wood. Piece of awkwardly laid wood at top of the stairs resulted in me falling down from the top and banging my head on the ground an hour after arriving. Subsequently I now have a concussion.
Email booking confirmation states that a £10 deposit is needed but it was actually £20 for the deposit (I arrived with £18 cash and a bank app that wasnt working. This kind of ruined the first hour of being there trying to transfer cash from my savings to pay a deposit higher than expected).

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked Nice clean site, disappointing to find dogs not allowed in clubhouse considering its stated dog friendly site so we were limited on things to do couldnt enjoy the nightlife whilst staying. Not much options in the shop for the campers eg fire lighter for bbq, ice cubes had to travel out a few times. Staff very friendly

Liked We had a great time staying here. We were in the rally field which was so quiet and peaceful. The park had everything you need, great facilities, a little shop and a bar! The site was clean and tidy and the staff were really friendly in both reception and the bar. We walked into Beamish museum, about a mile but a pub on route 👍 we really enjoyed our stay here.

Local attractions

Beamish Holiday Park's setting in Beamish has it surrounded by small country pubs and up to date restaurants to sort out all guests' tipples and teas whatever their budget. Horse riding, fishing and cycling are available nearby and the C2C cycle path is a mile away. Beamish is a comely little town, well known for its North of England Open Air Museum, which does exactly what it says on the tin in its aim of preserving the industrial history of England's north east in the 20th century. (It's a lot more thrilling than it sounds, and has won plentiful awards: a trip is thoroughly recommended.) Also get to Durham for the day, home of one of the country's most splendid cathedrals, and to Newcastle and Sunderland, all within easy driving distance. Going east, sand fans can investigate the coastal town of South Shields, former home of saga storyteller Catherine Cookson and one of the most popular seaside resorts on this part of coast. Have a look at the museum and art gallery, the South Shields lighthouses, the reconstructed Roman fort and excavations at Arbeia, and the rather ornate town hall.
