Primitive grass tent campsite (two person, small)

Liked I’d like to start of with a massive thankyou to the hosts (Philip and Rose), for being so welcoming and helping us with the tent we had brought 2 days prior and had never used before.😂 they offered us helpful tools and couldn’t have been more helpful if they had tried. They even gave us options on which pitch would work better for us as first time campers alone. They offered us advice on the are and where they’d recommend. The ice cream was absolutely amazing and would definitely order again!

very quiet, very clean, could see the stars when it wasn’t cloudy!

I would definitely come here again and would recommend to everyone

Powered grass tent campsite (small)

Liked This site was wonderfully quiet and extremely well maintained. Rose and Philip were the perfect hosts and very welcoming. We chose to order in advance for breakfast sandwiches, cream tea and pizzas and spread these over the weekend which made for a relaxing break with little cooking required. The bathrooms are the best I’ve seen - quite the home from home.

Liked 2nd visit to Abbey Green Farm. Nice smaller campsite with very good facilities that are kept very clean. We also used the Pizza service on the evening we arrived. Others were having afternoon tea and using the breakfast bap option.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked We had a lovely 3 night break here with our young family where the kids felt safe with a homely feel.

The site is extremely well maintained and is a credit to the owners that work very hard to maintain the site.

We were greeted just after our arrival and were shown around the facilities.

This site only accepts green toilet fluid due to their treatment plant but this wasn’t an issue for us as we didn’t need to use the toilet in our caravan at all as the toilets were so clean and close to our pitch.

Toilet and washing up facilities are fantastic and always kept clean, the bathrooms are the best we’ve used on any camp site.

We would definitely use this site again, thank you for a pleasant stay.

Local attractions

Whixall Nature Reserve, a 20-minute drive away, is one of the last few lowland raised bogs left in the British Isles and as such it’s home to a menagerie of birdlife along with some rather prehistoric sights, such as carnivorous sundew, adders (wear your boots) and six-inch water-skating raft spiders. The nearby Meres – lakes and wetlands formed at the end of the Ice Age – are all between 20 and 25 minutes away and make for fine walks and nature spotting: birdwatchers come from all over the country to Wood Lane Nature Reserve, next to Ellesmere, to spot avocets, lapwings and sandpipers. It's around an hour to the Shropshire Hills' Carding Mill Valley for yomps up heather-blanketed slopes, waterfalls and views towards the Black Mountains. Alternatively, report to Llangollen (45 minutes) for rides on the steam railway and down the canal, and it's a similar distance to walk the ‘stream in the sky’, otherwise known as the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. If you’re more into country houses, visit the eccentric tangle of statues, grottoes, bridges and tunnels created by various owners of Hawkstone Park Follies (15 minutes), or wander the 640 acres of country surrounding 18th-century Attingham Park, dotted with Iron Age and Roman ruins, half an hour away.
