  • Small and friendly site 100 yards from the River Severn
  • Next to a riverside 15th-century pub; Great Malvern 25 minutes' drive
  • A 50-minute walk into the historic town of Tewkesbury
Take time out for a spot of fishing on the River Severn, followed by a drink in the 15th-century inn (with varying opening times) next-door to the site, where the views are as tasty as the food and drink. The Willows is a small and friendly site in a spectacular and hugely handy location… Despite being encircled by lush scenery with the river (and separately owned pub) a mere hundred yards away, it’s also a 50-minute walk into the lovely historic town of Tewkesbury and a 15-minute drive from the outskirts of the Malvern Hills National Landscape. You can pick up your freshwater fishing permit in the pub (as if you needed an excuse for a visit...). In Tewkesbury, tour the abbey, gardens and museum or do a round of the cafés. If you fancy zipping off to the Malvern Hills for the day, there are plenty of hikes within a short drive or lively Great Malvern is within 25 minutes' drive of the site. The local countryside and riverbanks are great for ramblers and guests can find boat and bike hire, windsurfing and golf courses nearby. The country lanes and honey-coloured stone of the Cotswolds National Landscape can be accessed around half an hour's drive away, too. Around the site, there are splendid views of the river and lots of green space. Guests are welcome to bring their dogs along for their holiday. Barbecues are also given the green light, so don't forget to pick up your groceries while out pottering around Tewkesbury.

What customers say

Beautiful riverside site with a good pub nearby. Praised for peace, spacious pitches & friendly staff. However, washrooms are often noted as dated, needing repair, or unclean. Some site maintenance/signage issues, but basic facilities okay for the price.

Liked Great location.
Quiet campsite.
Location to the pub - we were attending a wedding there.
Tewkesbury is not far away, lovely place to wander around with great pubs.

Disliked Showers/toilets need some updating.
Steps up to the shower block are uneven and dangerous.
Lighting around the site would be good.

Powered grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked We loved this little site!
Great pub , selling a good selection of drinks, beers, and food! Friendly, accommodating staff.
You can also swim in the river here, great on a hot day.
Also plenty of open space to walk the dog.
Tewksbury is a lovely town, with plenty of shops, pubs and eateries, and a wonderful Abbey.

Disliked Not a lot to dislike, but I would say the pitches could really do with a good tidy up!
The loos and showers, although clean, could definitely do with an upgrade!

Primitive grass campsite

Liked If you are a self contained camper van or motorhome unit then you'll be fine as you'll not have to venture into the washing up area or toilet/showers.

Disliked The owner(s) should be embarrassed by the total state of everything. The wash area was dirty and we had to clean it before we attempted to put any dirty washing up down. The toilets and showers are a disgrace. Never ever have I stayed in such a run down, uncared for campsite.
The water in the mop bucket that was being used to clean the toilet block was a bio hazzard.
Avoid this place at all cost, which is a shame as it has potential due to its quiet, riverside location.
You have been warned.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Good space with a nice atmosphere around the place. Pub on the water is lovely and Tewkesbury being round the corner is great.

Disliked Toilets can always be better, but everything youd expect from a camp site.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Quiet location on our visit. Nice pub adjacent by the R. Severn.

Disliked Facilities very basic in a poor state of maintenance. Owners should take more responsibility for this. £20 per night though was pretty reasonable.

Local attractions

Slotted into a slender strip of land at the meeting point of the Severn and Avon rivers, Tewkesbury (five minutes' drive) hasn’t changed much over the centuries: black and white Tudor buildings overhang the narrow streets, and the 12th-century abbey has the highest Norman tower in England. There are town and country museums to explore, historic buildings like the Old Baptist Chapel, plus shops and entertainment aplenty. Also on your doorstep are the Cotswolds (from half an hour's drive) and attractive towns and cities such as Cheltenham (35 minutes) and Gloucester (half an hour). Ledbury (25 minutes), with its timber-framed houses and 17th-century market house, is also within striking distance. If you're yet to get your full fill of historic sites, head along to Eastnor Castle (20 minutes) or British Camp Hill Fort (25 minutes) in the Malvern Hills National Landscape or treat yourself to a ride on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway (35 minutes' drive)
