What customers say
Spectacular 360° views, great for Peak District exploring. Friendly owner, clean facilities, good value. Peaceful, but busy times can mean queues for limited toilets/showers. Many would return.

Primitive grass campervan campsite
Liked Perfect and peaceful even with other campers here. There was a group of DofE here but still all the facilities were well maintained and adequate for me 😊. There a local pub a 15 min walk down the lane with an honesty shop and the food was lovely too.

Great campsite
Primitive grass campervan campsite
Liked Lovely location, beautiful 360 degree views, central for visiting a lot of lovely places and beautiful walks nearby.
Friendly owner, who was very diligent about keeping the facilities clean and stocked.
There was a local pub a short walk away that serves good food and has a small shop.
Disliked Only a few toilets and 2 showers resulted in small queues each morning (it was busy weekend) hence the loss of 1 star.

Primitive grass campervan campsite
Liked Brilliant sunset views and a nice atmosphere at the campsite. We are a 30yo couple in a van with a dog and it was a lovely getaway with bridleway walks straight out of the site.
Toilets always clean and well stocked.

music festival vibe
Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked - campsite location (there is a 3 mile trig bagging walk you can do and end it in the pub)
- cleanliness
- friendly owner
- more facilities are being put in
Disliked - noise till 2am, apparently caused by the 'regulars' who arrived on Friday evening in two ford fiestas but decided to re-pitch their tent at 10.30pm which took them over an hour because they spent more time shouting at each other than actually pitching the tent, then proceed to start frying dinner till well past midnight and having a late/early morning dinner followed by alcoholic drinks and loud burps while blasting music on their portable speaker. Despite an alleged round around the fields to ensure quiet time at 11pm the noise continued till 2am.
Since one 6 persons group got away with noise nuisance the next night others have joined in and we found ourselves surrounded by drunker festival goers blasting music, swearing and shouting racist remarks to their 'friend' on the phone.
In the end we only got one night of sleep and what was intended to be a quiet gateaway and an opportunity to rest from day hikes turned out into a survival camp on very little sleep.
- a little bit of a slope but nothing too dramatic
- pitches not marked which resulted with groups of friends building 'forts' and taking up a lot of space as well as people pitching almost on top of each other
- it would be great to have some more picnic benches
It would have been our 'to-go-back-to' campsites, if the noise was managed.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked It is a nice, very clean campsite, and the lady looking after it was very pleasant and kept the grounds and facilities very clean.
Disliked The site is on a slight slope, but it is manageable. During our stay, a group of young adults was talking until the early hours of the morning. Fortunately, I had earplugs, so it wasn't too much of an issue.

Room for improvement needed!
Primitive grass campervan campsite
Liked The location was absolutely beautiful.
For a few campers on site, considering there's only four toilets & two showers, the facilities are adequate - but they could be much better maintained.
Over the last two days on site, many many more campers arrived! There were too many camping on site, for the facilities available.
There were two extra portaloo toilets which were kept locked, even when the site became busy, for some reason unknown to us.
In addition, there was not enough spacing between pitches, nor any guidance as to guide campers to space out more, purely for safety reasons.
Disliked The strong winds! Thats out of the owners control!
