  • Dog-friendly Anglesey pop-up site with views of the sea and Snowdonia
  • Walking distance from beaches, the coastal path and summit trails
  • Walk to the pub, seafood restaurant and café; shops a short drive out
Wake up and walk the Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path, or perhaps challenge yourself to a local hill summit. Based on the northwest coast of Anglesey, you’ll have lots of choice over how to spend your time from Llain Ffynnon Camping. A morning brew over the site's sea views? Taking the 15-minute walk down the closest beach for a quick dip in the sea? Or perhaps you’d rather go for a dog walk towards the mountains (after all, dogs are welcome here too). You’ll need a good pair of shoes, that’s for sure. One of the big perks of this site is that it’s easy to get to many places on foot. The local pub in Church Bay is only half an hour’s walk away. It’s also on the way to the rockpools at Porth Swtan beach (40 minutes’ walk) or the seafood restaurant and café close to the shore. You’ll get an idea of the splendid walks around these parts just from glancing at the views from this site. Based quite high up, Llain Ffynnon Camping doesn’t just have views over the northwest coast – you'll catch Snowdonia's mountains, Ireland, the Isle of Man and the northwest of England on a clear day too. The site is only a short walk from access points to several well-maintained public footpaths, including one with access to the Mynydd y Garn summit. If you need to pack some snacks and sandwiches before you go, there are two local food shops in Llanfaethlu or Tregele, 10 minutes’ drive from the site. Please note that this is a pop-up site, so there are only cold-water shower and toilet facilities available.

Unpowered grass and earth caravan site

Liked: The views, the stars, the owners couldn't have made us feel more welcome. Facilities were spotless. Plenty of space for the kids to run around without bothering other people. Lots of level spots available and some more sheltered spots for people in tents.

Disliked: Leaving to go home to work...

Unpowered grass and earth tent or trailer tent site

Liked: We spent a week here and didn't want to leave Huw and David (son and Dad) were amazing so too all rest of family toilets were cleaned at least 5 times a day. due to the intensive rain we got stuck when we arrived nothing to much trouble Dad fetched the tractor and they pulled us out . Views were outstanding and Dad's knowledge of the area was better than a tour guide .We wouldn't have left if it hadn't been for the storm Katherine due on Saturday. Hope they were all safe and sound. Yes it's a cold shower but this is not hidden, you are wild camping at the highest point in Anglesey. We had not one complaint and will definitely return very soon . Thank you so much to you all for making our stay special my 14 year old granddaughter didn't want to come home either. Great area to visit loads to do and see if you are interested in history of the area see you soon guys live to u all the Underhill family see u soon xxx

Liked: Amazing views, truely stunning location and easily accesible even in a motorhome. Pitch where you like type site which was great. No issues getting on/off the field as well maintained, even in what has been a very damp march! Toilet and water facities are spot on. Lovely walk up to the highest point in anglessey acsessible from the site. Owners were a pleasure to talk to. Ive given the wifi 5 stars as we had 0 issues getting phone signal here so were able to use 4g as we would normally. 10/10 will be returning

Unpowered grass and earth caravan site

Liked: Beautiful views from the site. Site is very peaceful and feels quite remote. The owners were very helpful and kind - we arrived 1 day late for personal reasons and left 1 day early because the gale was wrecking the awnings and were only charged for the time we stayed. Our two vans were the only ones on site so we were able to tuck in at the bottom of the site away from the worst of the wind. Flattest area is at the top of the site near the facilities. Toilet and washing up area were better than expected. We will return in better weather!

Disliked: The site is a sloping field with no marked pitches. It might be difficult to find a flat pitch when it's busy. No O2 signal except at the top of the site (not sure about other networks).

Unpowered grass and earth caravan site

Liked: it is cheap

Disliked: There was only a wet, very slippery meadow here. There is no lighting or any indication that this is a pitch for mobile homes. I immediately drove away from this place because otherwise I was in danger of getting stuck. Offering this space as a pitch for mobil homes on this completely soaked meadow is an impudence.

Unpowered grass and earth caravan site

Liked: What a gem! Waking up to the Anglesey coast line was stunning - we arrived in a bit of a gale and needed a bit of a tow to get off by the super friendly owner and his son could not have been more helpful! He was great to chat too! The field is pitch up wherever you wish and facilities exactly as described- a beautiful, basic rural escape and we will most definitely be back! I highly recommend this site if you love a bit of wild off grid camping. Thanks again both so much for your help!

Local attractions

You might first spot the Goleudŷ Ynysoedd y Moelrhoniaid (The Skerries Lighthouse) from the Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path. Up close, after a chartered boat ride from Holyhead (25 minutes’ drive), the view is even better, and the birdwatching just as splendid. The seabird colony at Cemlyn North Wales Wildlife Trust Reserve (10 minutes’ drive) is pretty spectacular to watch too. A shingle ridge, lagoon and plants such as sea kale and sea campion are part of the highlight reel at this place – just the thing if you're a fan of spying on wildlife. Those of you who are planning on spending a lot of your downtime beside the sea will be happy to find that there are a number of beaches that are easy to get to from Llain Ffynnon Camping. In fact, the National Trust’s Traeth Ynys y Fydlyn is half an hour’s walk away, and there are caves and rockpools to rummage around down there. Further out, other gorgeous beach locations include Cemlyn Bay (15 minutes’ drive), Porth Trwyn (10 minutes) and Traeth Porth Wen Beach (15 minutes).
