Daisy Bank Touring Park

9.9

This campground/park does not currently take bookings here on Pitchup.com.

General

  • Adults-only site in a secluded hill location
  • Free pitch and putt and book/DVD library
  • Large enclosed dog exercise area

After a bit of peace and quiet? Uncrazy Daisy Bank Touring Park takes adults only, and is tucked far from the madding crowd amidst heavenly hills on the Wales-Shropshire border.

The hardstanding, serviced pitches have free wifi and luxe bathroom facilities, and there’s a shop which sells homemade local tucker, plus a large, enclosed exercise area for Fido.

Relaxation is the name of the game here, so the on-site entertainment is low key: free pitch and putt, and a book and DVD library. Many guests spend their time exploring the seductive scenery surrounding the site, walking along Offa’s Dyke path, Kerry Ridgeway, the Severn Way, or in the Shropshire Hills (Long Mynd and the Stiperstones are both nearby).

    Quiet, clean and spacious.

Everything we love from a campsite. Lovely views of the surrounding valleys and hills.

Walks available direct from the campsite (a short walk down an A road). Bronze Age fort within walking distance, as well as Church Stoke.

Enclosed dog run on the edge of the campsite, lots of bins to dispose of poo bags. Lovely and clean.

Toilet block has wet rooms with sink, toilet and shower. Warm radiators are much appreciated! Dish washing sinks are spacious with hot water.

On-site shop sells ice cream, drinks, marshmellows and condiments. Also available are OS maps 216, 217 (covering Long Mynd and Stiperstones) and a custom OS map of Daisy Bank for £4.

Freshly baked almond croissants were amazing. Order the night before (we did this by text!).

Will definitely be back to explore our lovely Shire.

Directions

Please do not try to use satnavs in the last five miles of your journey: they will try to take you down lanes that are neither suitable for a caravan nor necessary to go down.

The site is on the A489 between Craven Arms and Churchstoke.

If travelling east on the A489 from either Welshpool or Newtown follow the signs for Craven Arms once in Churchstoke. Pass Harry Tuffins garage and supermarket on your right. Daisy Bank is a further two miles on the righthand side of the road.

If travelling via Shrewsbury, take the A488 sign posted from the A5 to Bishops Castle. It is approximately 30 minutes from the A5. The turning onto the A489 is a very sharp one to your right travelling down hill towards the village of Lydham. Check the map and follow it carefully so as not to miss the turn.

If travelling from Craven Arms, take the A489 and follow all signs to Newtown. The site is signposted from Lydham and is approximately two miles on the lefthand side.

Local attractions

There are some interesting towns round and about: Bishop’s Castle, three miles from Daisy Bank, boasts two real ale breweries; Ludlow, fast gathering a reputation as a top foodie destination; Montgomery, for castle ruins, cobbles, and old-fashioned shopping; or Telford, where visitors can eye up Ironbridge and check out some of the many museums and tourist activities.

Other attractions include the red kite feeding centre at Rhyader, National Trust’s Powys Castle and gardens, and the coastal resort of Aberystwyth, a (very scenic) hour’s drive away.
