Staying near Penrith puts you within easy access of the Lake District National Park, so make yourself at home at the pitches at Tymparon Hall, set in the grounds of an 18th-century manor house just a 10-minute drive from both Penrith and Ullswater. This peaceful, friendly park is sheltered to the east by the old Penrith to Keswick railway embankment, which runs parallel to the site's farmhouse garden (overlooking a summer garden with colourful flowers and landscaped with mature trees). It's in prime national park exploring territory, four miles from Junction 40 of the M6 near Penrith and within easy reach of the Eden Valley. The Aira Force waterfall is a 15-minute drive away, and it's 20 minutes to Blencathra or 25 to Helvellyn. Showers, toilets and chemical disposal are all available on site. The local pub, an old-school inn, is about a 10-minute walk or a two-minute drive away; the nearest supermarket is within four miles.

This is a quiet, well-kept park with friendly hosts, a good stopover spot thanks to its handy M6 location. Sites are mostly level with water and power. Some found facilities basic/dated, others clean and fine. Limited dog areas & no washing-up sinks noted.

Liked Beautiful quiet site owned and managed to a high standard.
There are only five touring pitches, the remainder are seasonal touring pitches. Facilities are clean and well maintained. Each pitch is a good size with level hard standing, with your own water tap and EHU point. Rates are competitively priced for somewhere so close to the lakes.

Disliked Only slightly negative point is there is only one shower for men and one for ladies. This would be okay if it was just the five touring pitches using them but the more permanent residents use them too.

Tymparon Hall is 10 minutes from Pooley Bridge and its Bronze Age standing stones, and Lake Ullswater for steamboat trips, sailing, diving and scaling England's third highest mountain Helvellyn to the lake's south. At its west, walk through Lake District woodland to reach Aria Force waterfall. The Rheged Visitor Centre is a couple of miles from Tymparon: head here for a six-storey high cinema screen, shops, cafés using Cumbrian produce, indoor and outdoor play areas, and family-friendly activities and events throughout the year. This is Eden Valley land too, along with lots of opps for walks, bike rides and pony riding in the valley, Greystoke Forest, around the Lakeland Fells and back at Ullswater. A little further afield but still easily accessible from the site, Hadrian's Wall and Carlisle are both excellent options for days out.
