  • Well-maintained family-owned park on a working farm
  • 15 minutes' drive to Pickering and a short walk to Hutton-le-Hole
  • Luxury heated shower and toilet facilities in a walkers' paradise
How does a hillside setting among the highly scenic North York Moors sound for a holiday? Just fab? Make with haste to the farm site of Hutton Le Hole Caravan Park in the North York Moors National Park, a short walk down the hill from the village of Hutton-le-Hole, and among spectacular scenery in a walkers' paradise. You're within driving distance of several famed North Yorkshire locations from here – York, Whitby and Scarborough are all 50 to 55 minutes away – or you could opt to stay close to home instead, for farm-based and moor-based walks, steaming around on vintage railways, and investigating Yorkshire's old and grand homes such as Castle Howard, half an hour from the farm. (Or just munch your way around instead: market towns like Pickering and Kirkbymoorside are close by, along with farm shops, tearooms and eateries of all sorts.) The park is on a working family farm, a short downhill walk from Hutton-le-Hole village, and has a dog-walking area and a farm walk to potter around. It's a level and free-draining site, with plentiful drinking water points around the grounds and with excellent amenities including a utility room with laundry, fridge/ freezer and microwave, and a luxury heated amenities block with family rooms and hot showers. For the safety of all guests (and the grass and nearby crops), large barbecues, firepits and naked flames aren't allowed on site. Small controlled barbecues are fine, but you'll need to be responsible and make sure they don't burn the grass, trees or hedges.

Powered grass caravan site

Liked: Lovely clean open site in a good location for exploring. Facilities were modern and clean though quite small, not sure how busy they would get when the site is full.

Disliked: Having to pay for a pitch that includes electricity when we do not require it, but if we're paying for it then we're using it, i.e. it would be nice if there was a reduction for not having EHU

From the manager: Thanks for leaving a review of your stay. We have improved all of our pitches let to Pitch up to include ehu as most of our customers request it.

Powered concrete slab caravan site

Liked: location of the site was perfect, and beautiful .

Disliked: booked a hard standing grass pitch only to be told tent awning has to go on the gravel, so moved us to grass, no offer of refund on price, paid for our dog and told has to be tied up at ALL times, the only form of walk on the site for the dogs was a farm walk which was muddy and wet due to tractors constantly using it, bitten to death by horse flies. usually when paying for dogs an exercise area is provided for dogs especially when they have to be tied up at ALL times. shower block closed over lunch time for over 2 hours, so no chance of an lazy morning while away as there is no alternative given while cleaning the whole bloke, but with correct management this could be organized, access to your food in the communal fridge is also locked during this time. didn't expect these restrictions especially when paid £40 a night in may, so this will increase as the season starts.

From the manager: Thanks for leaving such a great review of our site. The photos are lovely and those cute twins!
Always book your table at the Crown Inn in the village as it gets quite busy in the peak times and having walked down we don't want you to miss it! We are so lucky to be in the North York Moors National Park and enjoy the scenery and the animals that call it home! Our hardstanding pitches are surrounded by grass and are quite popular!

Liked: This site is fantastic! So well kept and the facilities are of some of the cleanest we have seen. Powered concrete slab caravan site

Liked: The site was immaculate with many thoughtful touches. It was perfect for the dog as the farm walk (about a 11/2 mile loop) was beautiful and sheep free! Toilet block was very clean.. not loads of showers and loos but never had to wait. Site wardens were v helpful and friendly. Great location too for the village and other walks.. very impressed!

Disliked: Absolutely nothing! Even the weather was perfect!

From the manager: Thanks for taking the time to leave a review of your stay on one of our hardstanding pitches. They are very popular but our grass pitches are still very level and well drained so it will take a lot for it to flood! our staff are super friendly and ready to help if needed, we're very lucky! Di d you see our bell tents and shepherds hut? Maybe come back some time and bring your friends!?!

Definitely revisit.

Powered grass caravan site

Liked: Fabulous site. Clean, tidy, well spaced out with good sized pitches. Great location for walking from site with access to moors. Beautiful scenery.

Disliked: The fact that they closed all facilities for 2 1/4 hrs each day for cleaning. In my opinion that’s too long and they need to find a solution so that at least a toilet is available to use.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for leaving a review of your stay on our site. We do advertise that we close for 2 hours each day, to coincide with departures and arrivals and to allow our staff to clean uninterrupted. The layout of our building doesn't allow us to open part and keep the rest closed. We just find it easier and safer for you and our staff and we have public toilets in the village and at Kirkbymoorside if needed. Sorry if it didn't suit your needs.

Liked: A Charming Getaway in the Heart of the North York Moors!

I recently stayed at Hutton-le-Hole Caravan Park, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience! The site is perfectly located in the picturesque village of Hutton-le-Hole, right in the heart of the North York Moors National Park.

The first thing that struck me was how beautifully maintained the site is. The pitches are spacious, level, and surrounded by stunning countryside views. The facilities are spotlessly clean and well-kept, which made my stay really comfortable.

The owners were incredibly welcoming and helpful, making sure I had everything I needed and offering some great local tips. You can tell they really care about making visitors feel at home.

One of the highlights of my stay was being able to purchase some delicious venison burgers from the reception. I cooked them on my BBQ, and they were absolutely fantastic – a real treat! It was great to have such high-quality local produce available right on-site.

One of the best parts is how easy it is to explore the area from the site. The village itself is charming, with a lovely pub just a short stroll away and the Ryedale Folk Museum right on the doorstep. There are plenty of scenic walking and cycling routes directly from the park, which is perfect for nature lovers.

It’s also just a short drive to nearby attractions like Pickering, Helmsley, and the breathtaking Moors themselves. Whether you’re looking to relax or go adventuring, this location has it all.

If you’re looking for a peaceful, well-organized, and beautifully situated caravan park, I can’t recommend Hutton-le-Hole enough. I’ll definitely be back – it’s the perfect base for exploring North Yorkshire!

From the manager: Thanks for your review. We tend to be fairly quiet but do be prepared for us being full on weekends and then it can have a healthy buzz about the place! there is plenty of space between the pitches however so even when it's full, it doesn't feel packed in! Glad you enjoyed it.

Local attractions

The park is well set for the North York Moors National Park and its many attractions, or for free range wandering around the area's market towns, garden centres and farm shops. Two fab family options are a short drive away: the theme park and the UK's most visited zoo of Flamingo Land, within 20 minutes, and spectacularly scenic rides on the North York Moors Railway, starting at Pickering 15 minutes' drive from the farm. The railway winds up at Whitby, another fab option for families, sand seekers and vampire hunters. Some stunning walks are around if you're here to hike, such as the 109-mile Cleveland Way starting at Helmsley (15 minutes' drive) to run all the way to the coast at Saltburn. For a fully coastal walk, you could also tackle the Wolds Way, starting at Hessle about an hour and a half's drive south, to end up at Filey on a 79-mile route. Other local options include Ryedale Folk Museum, a mile and a half away, the local lavender farms, and a look at the scented trade at Yorkshire Lavender at Terrington and Wolds Way Lavender in Wintringham, both within 35 minutes' drive.
