  • Small, secluded back-to-basics farm site with a nature pond
  • A 10-minute drive from Halesworth; 20 minutes from Southwold
  • Play area and shared fridge freezer; friendly pub five minutes’ walk
Small is beautiful, so surround yourself with beauty at Sunnyside Campsite, a one-acre site with grassy pitches framed by ash trees and hawthorn hedges. This peaceful meadow is also easily accessible by public transport – Brampton station is a 30-minute walk (or a 10-minute bike ride) from base. This pretty farm site has a nature pond, a kids’ play area and a tumbledown old stable that houses the spick-and-span toilets and water point. Other handy facilities include a washing-up area and a shared fridge freezer. Campfires and barbecues are allowed (as long as they’re raised off the ground), and firepits are available to hire on site, while logs and charcoal can be purchased from the little honesty shop. Fish suppers are on the cards on Thursdays, when a visiting van comes round to sell fresh, locally caught seafood. Sunnyside Campsite is in a prime location for cyclists, who can set out on long- or short-distance pedals along National Cycle Route 1, which passes right at the end of the lane. Walkers and folk who like messing around in boats also have lots of options: the Suffolk coastline can be reached in under 20 minutes’ drive, while the Norfolk Broads are less than a half-hour away. The site is a few minutes’ stroll from a friendly community pub and a village play area. Cafés, restaurants and a larger supermarket are all in Halesworth (10 minutes’ drive).

Unpowered grass site

Liked We love this site for its rural back to nature setting, its small and our grandchildren love the swing over the pond, play area. The sunsets are amazing. There is a lovely little store with an honesty book so you can log what you buy and pay without having anyone to man the store.
There are fire pits for hire, these just add to the lovely atmosphere during an evening cooking marsh mellows on sticks.

Disliked We had to come home!

From the manager: Thank you for your kind review!

We think the meadow is a very special place too, and it is wonderful to hear how much people are enjoying their stays.

It was really good to see you and your family again. Please come again soon!

All best wishes,

Sunny powered grass site

Liked This is our 3rd stay with our daughter, son in law and grandson. This site is just perfect for families with children or as couples if you just want to relax and have a base for all of the sites around you. Again all those that we met (as everyone is so friendly) were very happy to be at Sunnyside and even kept extending their stay night after night. The site is perfect, the hosts are perfect and we’ll be booking once again, thank you Sally and Richard xx

Disliked Nothing at all

From the manager: There’s no better compliment than returning guests!

Thank you for coming back to Sunnyside Campsite again. Sooo lovely to see you and your family!

Looking forward to seeing you again next time!

Kindest regards,
Sally & Richard 🏕️🌞

Unpowered grass site

Liked We loved this site, the hosts could not have been nicer, nothing was too much trouble. It is a small site with only 9 pitches, which we love and it is also within a short walk of a great community run pub The Racehorse Inn. We took our spaniel camping too and it was so easy as we could walk him in the adjoining fields.
The shower was in a converted stable, which was absolutely charming, with fresh flowers from the garden. A little quirky as you have to pay £1 for hot water which goes cold if someone flushes the loo, but it's all part of the fun.
There is a fridge where you can store food and also a kettle with complimentary tea or coffee making facilities, perfect when you're trying to pack everything up to leave.
We will definitely be returning to this site in the not too distant future as it's an absolute gem.
There was also an area for a campfire, hammocks and also a playhouse and games.

Disliked Nothing

From the manager: That’s a very lovely review! Thanks very much!

We simply provide a little space here.. and magic happens when the right people come to stay!

We are looking forward to welcoming you back to Sunnyside Farm another time soon.

With kind regards and all best wishes,
Sally & Richard 🏕️🌞

Sunny powered grass site

Liked Such a cute and cosy campsite with so many nice spaces to sit and relax. Good shower and honesty store room

Disliked Nothing about the campsite but the walking routes nearby were a bit overgrown

From the manager: Thank you for camping and for your great review!

We saw that a branch is blocking the pathway through the woods behind us. The land owner has been informed. Hopefully they will clear it soon!

Hope to see you again another time.

Unpowered grass site

Liked Lovely peaceful surroundings, great play areas for kids, clean facilities. Nice little honesty shop with a kettle/ teabags (I was very grateful for these as I’d forgotten mine!!). Delicious cake on Saturdays!
Oh and the friendly hen!

Disliked The shower really is quite bad - I’d read the reviews but decided to try it for myself. However, it’s really not a deal breaker and wouldn’t put me off returning at all. Something to be aware of if you’re planning on staying longer than a couple of nights.

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback. I think the shower unit needs replacing as the water is very hard here. Temperature can fluctuate when the pressure drops.

Meanwhile there’s a lovey bucket hanging up to use… and a large wash basin, so hope everyone can manage ok!

Please come to see us if you experience any issues and we will do our best to help.

Best wishes,
Sally & Richard 🏕️🌞

Liked There were flowers in the toilet! I fell in love with the shower room, which was in an old outbuilding - just gorgeous!! There was a kettle we could use, and tea and coffee, and a honesty box for other goodies. The site was beautiful and the level pitches were really generous. There was plenty of hot water for washing up and in the toilets. There was even a trampoline and table tennis table (I lost), a rope swing and other things for kids. Sally was very welcoming. We had a fabulous stay.

Disliked The increase in price on the 1st July - why?

From the manager: Thanks for your fab review! Idyllic!

July and August are our peak season. Being such a small site with only 9 pitches we get very busy. The price reflects demand.

We are open from May to mid October when prices are less.

Hope to see you again another time!
Best wishes,

Liked Loved the natural feel of the site with the wild flower meadow in the centre. Very quiet and peaceful. Also nice to have use of kettle and tea and coffee..... and an honesty shop.

Local attractions

The sandy beach at Southwold (20 minutes) is dominated by the white bulk of the 19th-century Southwold Lighthouse and lined by colourful wooden huts. Stroll along the long pier, stopping for ice cream or fish and chips, then head into town and the Southwold Museum for a primer on local history. With their reed-lined ponds and shallow lagoons, the marshes of RSPB Minsmere (30 minutes) are home to avocets, curlews and marsh harriers – plus the occasional (but elusive) otter. Just up the coast from there, National Trust - Dunwich Heath and Beach becomes a colourful riot of purple heather in the summer. The tall spire of the cathedral in Norwich (45 minutes) is visible from far and wide. Explore the interior of this splendid 11th-century church, strolling through the cloisters and the choir, where (if you’re lucky) you might meet Budge, the cathedral cat. The Museum of Norwich at the Bridewell explores the history of the area.
