  • Small, secluded back-to-basics farm site with a nature pond
  • A 10-minute drive from Halesworth; 20 minutes from Southwold
  • Play area and shared fridge freezer; friendly pub five minutes’ walk
Sunnyside Campsite is a peaceful one-acre site with spacious grassy pitches surrounded by ash trees and hawthorn bushes. This small-scale meadow is also easily accessible by public transport – Brampton station is a 10-minute cycle or 30-minute walk from base. This fab farm site has a nature pond, kids' play area and a tumbledown old stable that houses the spick and span toilets and water point. Other handy facilities here include a washing-up point and use of a shared fridge freezer. Campfires and barbecues are allowed (as long as they're raised off the ground). Firepits are available to hire on site, and logs and charcoal can also be bought from the little honesty shop. Fish suppers are on the cards on Thursdays, when fresh local seafood is sold from a visiting van. Sunnyside Campsite is in a prime location for cyclists, who can set out on long or short-distance pedals along National Cycle Route 1 that passes at the end of the lane. Walkers and folk who like messing around in boats also have lots of options here – the Suffolk coastline can be reached in under 20 minutes' drive, while the Norfolk Broads are under a half hour away. The site is a few minutes' stroll from a friendly community pub and a village play area. Cafés, restaurants and a larger supermarket are all in Halesworth (10 minutes' drive).

What customers say

This neat, quiet spot has generous, flat pitches in lovely scenery. Guests loved the spotless loos, welcoming hosts & thoughtful extras. Expect a chill, natural vibe for spotting critters & walking. A local pub's a short stroll away. Showers can be fickle, but owners are on it.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Lovely spot and not too busy. The chair to watch the sunset was spot on and the whole vibe was very relaxed. The store was also supper useful with a fridge and freezer for guests along with lots of essentials including chocolate to buy! We were on our cycles and highly recommend the site.

Disliked Just to make it clear you need a pound coin for the hot water.

From the manager: Thank you for staying!

Hot water is freely available at the washing up sink and wash basins, plus there’s an electric kettle in the store. But Yes! £1 coin is required to operate the shower.

Cyclists - please let us know if you are a single cyclist (with no vehicle) and we’ll give you a £1 for a complimentary shower!

Best wishes,
Sally & Richard 🌞

Liked Beautiful camping meadow
Pitches well sized
Environmentally conscious
Clean toilets and showers
Quiet and peaceful

From the manager: Thanks very much for camping and for your review!

We do have capacity to take toilet waste but can only take environmentally friendly/bio toilet fluid treatment as we have a septic tank system. Please just ask if you need help. We live here and are available and happy to assist!

Sunny electric grass pitch

Liked Beautiful site, large pitches very clean facilities and small details that make this site stand out from others. Lovely for families and couples alike, relaxing and peaceful but plenty of places to visit nearby and lots of walking if you choose.
The Racehorse Community pub is just a short walk, good food and can recommend for dinner.
Sally and Richard always take the time to have a friendly chat and always make you feel very welcome, we love it here.

Disliked Nothing to dislike, just perfect!

Local attractions

The sandy beach at Southwold (20 minutes) is dominated by the white bulk of the 19th-century Southwold Lighthouse and lined by colourful wooden huts. Stroll along the long pier, stopping for ice cream or fish and chips, then head into town and the Southwold Museum for a primer on local history. With their reed-lined ponds and shallow lagoons, the marshes of RSPB Minsmere (30 minutes) are home to avocets, curlews and marsh harriers – plus the occasional (but elusive) otter. Just up the coast from there, National Trust - Dunwich Heath and Beach becomes a colourful riot of purple heather in the summer. The tall spire of the cathedral in Norwich (45 minutes) is visible from far and wide. Explore the interior of this splendid 11th-century church, strolling through the cloisters and the choir, where (if you’re lucky) you might meet Budge, the cathedral cat. The Museum of Norwich at the Bridewell explores the history of the area.
