West Lake Coarse Fishery and Camping

Μου άρεσε Where to start?! Everything was perfect!! The location, the fishing, the hut itself to the owner.. we could not fault a thing!

Me and my husband spent the weekend in the shepherd hut and what a stay! We did not want to leave. When we arrived we were greeted by Mike the owner and he was lovely! He shown us how to get to our hut and met us there for a little run down of how everything in hut worked and where everything was etc, gave us our key and away we went.

The hut itself was amazing! Equipped with absolutely everything you could need! Double bed, tv (which has Netflix, Disney etc on it you can log into), fan on the wall for hot nights, under floor heating for cold evenings. There is 2 tables which open up for extra tabletop space and a place to eat together so you don’t have to eat on the bed. There’s a small fridge, a kettle, 2 electric hobs, microwave. plenty of cups, cutlery, chopping boards, pots and pans etc, everything you could need!! We even got some coffee, tea and milk and a little welcome hamper which was a lovely touch! There is a separate bathroom in the hut which had a toilet, sink and shower in. We had towels and toilet roll which again was a lovely touch! Overall great facilities!!!

We arrived in the evening so we decided to get the rods out for a few hours in the evening just to get a lay of the land and have a little warm up for the full day fishing the next day. Just that little few hours I caught about 15 roach quite good sizes some babies some just under a pound it was fun.

The following day we got up around 7am to the most beautiful view of the lake from our hut, had a coffee and away we went to fish for the day! We fished for 12 hours straight and during the day Mike came round for a visit to check in and see how we was and if there was anything we needed and how we were getting on fishing which was a lovely added touch. Overall we caught about 7 carp ranging from 3lb to a beautiful 16lb, 4 tench, lots of medium sized roaches too! It was a brilliant day! All of the fish are well looked after, all beautiful!

We have definitely found our home away from home and we are already looking for dates we can go again! Thank you to Mike once again, our stay was amazing!

Μου άρεσε the shepards hut was just as pictures showed. the owner mike was very friendly and showed and told us everything we needed to know, nothing was too much trouble. the hut was spotless and you had all you needed for your stay. we will deffo return lovely peaceful site and a lovely welcome pack too which was appreciated thank you so much for a lovely break xx

Μου άρεσε We had a fantastic Easter stay in a Shepherds Hut at Westlake. The hut was immaculately clean and had everything required for very comfortable long weekend, including: cooking facilities, shower, toilet, television, free Wi-Fi, seating area both inside and out and a very comfortable bed. The huts are surrounded by nature and next to a beautiful lake. The fishing was excellent and the fish caught; carp, tench, roach and rudd were all in fantastic condition.

Μου άρεσε We stayed at the West Lake Coarse Fishery and Camping in April 2025. From the moment we arrived we was greeted by Michael the owner, who showed us around and gave us all the information we needed for our stay. He provided us with his number incase we needed anything throughout our stay no matter the time. Me, my wife and our dog stayed in one of the shepherd huts close by to one of the beautiful lakes on site. The shepherd hut was incredible and one of the best we have stayed in. The hut had heating including under floor heating as a bonus, very comfortable bed, shower, toilet, bedding & towels provided and electric hob with all the cooking utensils we could possibly need. We was also provided a welcome basket full of goodies which was a very nice touch. They also had onsite toilets and showers with disabled access/wet room too which was all very clean and well looked after. We had an amazing stay here in the hut, it was very peaceful and relaxing. The fishing was great too as you are very close by to the lake. There was 2 lakes to choose from depending on your fishing style and have some beautiful, stunning fish in there. We have found our home away from home and we can’t wait for our many happy returns.
