Avon Tyrrell Outdoor Activity Centre and Campsite

Μου άρεσε The beautiful setting & the lovely atmosphere. Everything was simple, no bother and with a friendly greeting. Nice little shop and cafe. Easy to book activities but as advised book up sooner rather than later.

Μου άρεσε This campsite is the best we’ve ever stayed at! Allocated pitches means you all get the same amount of space which was plenty for a large tent, a car and space in front to eat and play. The staff were fantastic from the reception point of checking in, the cafe and all the activities! They were friendly, helpful and really nice. The campsite itself had great toilet and showering facilities that were close by to the pitches in various places as well as multiple playgrounds. There was ample space to play sports in various grassy patches and it has a cafe and a shop for all your needs. We did a few walks around the campsite as well, around the lakes and through the forest and spotted toads, fish and even a kingfisher!
We also took part in the tree top trail and high ropes with our 9 and 6 year olds who absolutely loved it and the staff were experienced and kind and put our minds at ease ( I’m not great with heights but still climbed half way up a tall tree!)
The location in The New Forest itself is also amazing! So near to all different little villages and walks with so many ponies to spot too. We walked through Burley with its witch and fairy shops and were close to Ringwood and Brockenhurst with the lovely stream too! Such an amazing little 3 night get away we will all remember dearly!

Δεν μου άρεσε My only dislike was that it was under a flight path to Bournemouth airport so from later in the evening there were loud planes taking off and landing at various intervals. My husband loved spotting them all and there weren’t too many as it’s not that busy an airport but in such a peaceful setting it was a bit of a put off however we will definitely be coming back here again!

Μου άρεσε When we arrived we were made to feel very welcome by the reception staff.
We were allocated a space near the lake, which is a lovely spot. Clean and decent toilets/showers (the showers could do with some shelves to put your soap/shampoo down).
There are beautiful paths through the surrounding Forrest, which is lovely to walk around.
We knew we were under a flight path but this wasn't a problem as there were not that many planes plus it was exciting to see the planes come over quite close. Nice little cafe and shop with very friendly staff.
Unfortunately our daughter is too young to participate in the outdoors activities, but they looked amazing and we aim to come back when she is old enough so that we can do these activities.

Δεν μου άρεσε There was no swimming pool, which we felt was missing on this site. There are also no washing facilities which deemed quite tricky to get things clean and dry when our daughter soiled herself during the night.
The play parks were good and my daughter loved playing in them, but I thought they could do with tidying up a bit (remove weeds/brambles etc).

Μου άρεσε Lake was pretty be it far away from the “lake view”

Μου άρεσε The area in general, the nature, showers and toilets provided, beautiful views all around, bicycle routes for everyone done very well, lake was only seconds to walk in distance.

Δεν μου άρεσε That we were not allowed to have a swim in the lake, that was the main reason we booked the stay so we could refresh in the lake on such a hot day. It's our fault that we haven't read the rules of the camp probably, but regardless, if you have a lake, make it accessible for the customers to enjoy it without the need to book the instructor and a paddle board.

Μου άρεσε Facilities, activities, helpful & friendly staff . The setting. The other guests, who all seemed friendly.

Δεν μου άρεσε The concrete-like ground, which made tent-pegs a challenge!
There again, it hadn't rained for over a week.

Μου άρεσε The grounds, the area are all beautiful, the facilities are great and HOT water was amazing considering how busy the site can be.

Δεν μου άρεσε We disliked how on close and on top of each other you are plotted it makes for little room around your "space". The lack of "policing" of making noise after the 10pm request for respect for others. Late comers putting up tents till 11:30pm then singing and shouting till 1:30am was unacceptable and when i called the front office a member of staff did go to see them, but their words where not strong enough to inform them of the policy and understand of others.

Δεν μου άρεσε The organization was not good , there was only 2 occupancy , still the slots given was very far from the lake side although there were many free slots near the lake side.
The slot allocation should be improved for better experience.
