The Brownlow Arms

Μου άρεσε Beautiful place and the owner is really amazing. I left an hour early expecting heavy traffic due to the bank holiday. However roads were clear and i arrived early. She got me and my kids booked in and we set up.
Its a very wonderful family area and everyone just got along inviting kids to play together and have some random fun with slip and slide with spare air beds. It was amazing.

The pub is having renovations but i cant wait to return to see how that finish turns out. They do amazing 🍺 pints which is just what you need on a hot day.
Its quite and clean with a small play area right in sight to let kids roam and have some responsibility learning.
But under supervision from a distance.

Toilets are really clean and stocked.

No WI-FI which is amazing when you need to get the family away from technology and shut down fully. I would recommend the owners not change that, its what everyone needs!
Its close to Sherwood forest 32 min drive (if you are geo-chasing definitely hit Sherwood you won’t be disappointed! 12 mins from the closest fish and chips in Tuxford if needed.
The pub wasn’t doing food on the nights i stayed (i was hoping they did as the food reviews were wonderful) this i think is due to the renovation they are having but who doesn’t love having your own camp site cook-out!

Plenty of electricity hookups if you have booked Nd really great distance i have my 10m and it was more than enough.

So i would suggest checking whenever you stay what nights food is on.

Took ages to get myself and the kids showered because of the set up 10 seconds ice cold 15 seconds scolding (which for children is a very big danger, i would recommend the owners get this sorted over time to prevent accidents) 10 seconds of right temp.
So when using the shower be very careful and be very wary you can get scolded. Listen to the pump when it turns on step back and wait if you have kids or yourself.

It was absolutely amazing and I would absolutely recommend the site to friends and family 100% just the shower issue is a tiny small problem. But don’t let this put you off at all, you won’t be disappointed.

Μου άρεσε All the facilities needed for camping. Great to have the pub on site! Didn’t eat there as currently not serving food on site.

Μου άρεσε Lovely campsite, lovely people that own the pub definitely worth the money

Booked for 2 nights as a first time camper with my 10 year old. We did leave a day early than planned but that was only because it was too hot and my daughter struggled with the heat

Μου άρεσε Location great , live music from the pub. Plenty of room. Nice little park. The food from the pub smelt amazing.

Δεν μου άρεσε Showers were good when hot ( alittle temperamental). Didn’t grumble as we were only there for a couple of days and used shower in caravan.

Δεν μου άρεσε everything they didn't realise we were a long motorhome (7.9metres) even though pitch booked was 8m x 5m but didn't think she could 'fit' us in. she offered a spot of land which was a joke and the other campers around was enough to put anyone off 'feral' is probably best described the whole place.
Thought we had entered the set of Shameless. Needless to say we politely said we would just go home. Would not have had a restful time if she could have fitted us in!
When my husband pointed out the toilet/shower block I thought it was a derelict outbuilding.

Μου άρεσε Honestly struggling to write a positive. No safety at all. No fire safety points and campers stacked in (2 or more to a pitch or people in vans just parking anywhere). The only saving feature was the food service at the pub was great.

Δεν μου άρεσε No emergency number and unstaffed for most of the night. Nobody was following the so called ‘rules’ on a poster in the toilet and music/raves was happening until 3 in the morning. Tried calling all the number I could find but no luck. Surrounded by people smoking drugs and getting so drunk they were vomiting. I know this is not something the campsite owners could help but it was treated like a free for all. The facilities were honestly disgusting. We expect campsite toilets to not be perfect. For the volume of occupants 2 toilets didn’t come close to being adequate.

Brownlow arms serves delicious meals and had great entertainment over our stay.

Δεν μου άρεσε Pitches for tents are not very well organised, it's a case of just pitching up where you can fit in.
Shower/toilet facilities basic and the water was always cold, same with the pot washing never managed to get hot water.
Remember to bring an extension to your hookup electric points are quite a distance away.

Δεν μου άρεσε Attitude of site owners. Unfortunately they had a group who disrespected the site and were unruly but not all who stayed ther acted in such a way but we're treated in that manner

Μου άρεσε The pub was lovely , friendly staff . Great food . Had bands on 3 nights , even if you didnt like the era of music was great to have entertainment

Δεν μου άρεσε Site was crowded and very noisy . Not enough space . Another car parked on our pitch , no guidelines . Toilets were very basic and not enough for the amount of campers
