The Camping Field

Positiv: It was the perfect site for an overnight stop while we were touring around the south coast. Peaceful site with beautiful views, facilities were very clean and Richard the owner was incredibly friendly. The site was exactly as described, I wish there were more sites like this around the country as they are perfect for campervan stops. I will definitely use again and recommend to others.

Positiv: The camping field is as described plenty of space to park or pitch a tent without being on top of others. There’s 2 showers available in a wooden hut, nice hot water and quite powerful showers, if the other cubicle is being used your water temp can change though. Porta loos available, we didn’t use them but saw the owner checking and cleaning them regularly. Water taps dotted around for use. Chemical disposal available. Absolutely stunning views all around. Tight narrow road leading to the site but we managed it in an xlwb van so accessible for most vehicles. Owner very friendly, lots of information on walks, where the local village shop is etc. EHU available. Was allowed to pick where we wanted to park up. Gave it 4 stars Purley because small group of teens/young adults revving their car engine on and off for an hour early evening. If we’re passing through Bodmin again we will return.

Positiv: Simplicity of the site, 2 great showers, a couple of portaloos, a washing up area (big enough to bath a child in!) and a chemical disposal point. Plenty of water taps and the electric hook up we had was fine. Set in lovely countryside, views, sunsets and dark sky were brilliant. Richard was on hand all the time and seemed to be always checking and cleaning the facilities. Couple of pubs not too far far away, one on the Saints Way, about a miles walk. Firewood for your firepit available from Richard.

Negativ: A table or shelf would be useful in the washing up area to put your items on.

Positiv: Back to basics site with toilet, shower, chemical disposal and bins. Fire pits allowed, bbq allowed, THE most amazing night sky. Really dark so lots of stars and super quiet, resident owl somewhere around, just a super peaceful place to escape to. Plenty of walks and accessible to main roads if needed.

Positiv: Richard the farmer is lovely, very accommodating and full of advice for things to do. Great views of Helman Tor. Plenty of space, nice clean loos and warm water for washing up.

Negativ: Unfortunately the ground was quite wet from all the rain this week but there is a good solid path, a tractor on hand and some good advice on where to park and how to get good traction!

Positiv: Arrived 1.55hrs early, was not a problem! Advised to move to the bottom of the field as it was less sodden. Offered wood for fire pit although we chose not to. Was making our meal when a tractor appeared in front of us bearing a portaloo which was placed near to our camper. What better service could you ask for? A beautiful rural place to stay, with everything you need! Would definitely recommend and will return.
