This is a peaceful campsite that welcomes families and dogs to its level and well-kept pitches, which are sheltered by mature trees and hedgerows. With facilities including hot showers and flushing toilets – plus a playground, games field, dog exercise field and footpath to a local country park – Folly Farm Caravan and Camping Park is a tiptop place to stay in the gorgeous Hampshire countryside. How to unwind here? Well, there are plenty of spots around the site to let your hair down (thanks to its peaceful and level grassy pitches, play areas, wifi, free showers and walks in the surrounding woodlands) but you’ll have your choice of many a day out from here too. Perhaps a venture into the South Downs National Park (10 minutes’ drive)? Into the vibrant city of Winchester (15 minutes) for its historic sites, such as the medieval cathedral, the ruins of Wolvesey Castle, the working 18th-century corn mill, Jane Austen’s house or the castle’s medieval round table, once sat at by King Arthur? From Winchester, there’s a short stroll along the water meadows of the river Itchen down to England’s oldest medieval almshouse and The Hospital of St Cross or the 25-minute ascent to St Catherine’s Hill for views of the city, a dramatic chalk hill and an Iron Age hillfort. As for ventures from the site, you might want to set your next target as one of three local pubs serving home-cooked food in the villages of Sparsholt, Littleton or Crawley (this one’s 25 minutes’ walk away).

Positiv: The situation of the site is great the pitches are very roomy and well kept

Negativ: Arrival and departure times are ridiculous 3 o’clock arrival when you left your last site at 11 makes for a wasted day ,toilets and one shower inadequate .

Positiv: Very well kept site. Very secure, clean, tidy and quiet site. Lovely surroundings. Nice little play area and open spaces for football etc. Ample pitches with 16a supply which always nice to see.

Negativ: It was ok for us as wasn’t busy, but with only one toilet block with 3 cubicles and only 1 shower, it may get busy. Looks like more facilites are coming in 2025 so will look forward to that.

Positiv: Location was very quiet and very peaceful... Nice walk into Crawley and the bus stop very easy to get to. The owners were very friendly and accommodating. The site was well maintained.

Negativ: Showers are basic and we can see that renovations are underway. There is no local shop so bare that in mind as the main roads have no footpaths. The bus service is limited

Positiv: Nice small well organised site in a lovely area. Everyone super friendly. David, the owner was really helpful. Farley Mount Country Park (forest) near by was a great find as was The Plough pub in Sparsholt. Would definitely book again! 😄

Positiv: This was a nice quiet site, with a slightly sloping pitch, and large pitch size. We booked late and were accommodated, which was great. Bollard access with ANPR to drive in. Separate enclosed field for dogs to exercise, playground area and ball game area. The field we were in (Holly) was wide and there was ample room between us and the tents opposite. Fire pits were an option for an extra charge and logs for sale.

Negativ: Shower/toilet block area was sub-standard, particularly in the wet weather, as there was no shelf/seat in the shower and all there was a couple of hooks on the back of the door. Nowhere to put your shower gel in the shower apart from on the floor, which may be an issue for people with mobility issues. The floor outside the shower was always wet and muddy as the floor didn’t slope and you’re stood on this to get changed. There was a mop, but I wouldn’t have used it to ‘clean’ the floor, as there was dirty water in the bottom. An extra shower block was opened for the bank holiday weekend, and at least this had a shelf for toiletry bag/toothbrush at the sinks, unlike the regular toilet block. There is some work going on, with notes up on new amenities coming at some point. There isn’t a reception, which is a little weird post-covid, you just drive in and set up. Our initial email arrived after booking that stated we could arrive from 13:00 until 20:30, but the final email arrived the day before and changed these times from 14:00 until 18:00. Soap in the toilet was good, but the toilet paper would run low, and it became important to check. Our tent backed onto an ash old metal style dustbin, which people would use at all times, particularly on departure day, with bricks put next to this bin for the fire pits.

Closest to the site, there's Danebury Iron Age Hillfort (10 minutes’ drive), Mottisfont’s (15 minutes) historical priory, garden and country estate (15 minutes) or Winchester’s (15 minutes) cathedral, castle, markets and fairs. Perhaps the most iconic of the lot, Stonehenge (35 minutes) is a short trip away. Mid Hants Railway 'Watercress Line' (25 minutes) will take you on a ride along a 19th-century heritage steam train line, while the National Motor Museum (45 minutes) and the maritime museum at Buckler's Hard (55 minutes) are full to the brim with old artefacts. Once you’re done with country house tours – perhaps at Broadlands House (35 minutes) or the National Trust’s Georgian Hinton Ampner (25 minutes) – a festival might bring you firmly to the present again. The Boomtown Fair venue (20 minutes) and Carfest South venue (25 minutes) are both close by. But, how to finish off your stay? Maybe the 72-hectare arboretum at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens (20 minutes), the birds of prey experiences at the Hawk Conservancy Trust (25 minutes), Marwell Zoo (half an hour), Salisbury Cathedral (half an hour) or the kid-friendly Paultons Park, Home of Peppa Pig World (half an hour)?
