Fakenham Fairways is a family-run and friendly site on the outskirts of Fakenham, part of a 22-acre complex that includes a golf driving range and a par-three pitch and putt course. It's in a sterling spot for exploring the north Norfolk area as it's within easy reach of the seaside towns of Cromer, Wells and Sheringham, a short drive from Sandringham and Norwich, and a few minutes' drive from the market town of Fakenham. This spick and span site is expertly laid out among trees and mature hedgerows to provide pitches with plenty of space as well as views of the local countryside. A short dog walking trail winds its way through the trees, and there's an excellent half-acre play area for kids to let off steam in away from the accommodation area (which is separated into two parts – one for families and one for adults only). Freshly-ground coffee, Norfolk beers and homemade cake are on sale in the site's licensed coffee shop, which also has free wifi and a woodburner ablaze during chillier climes. During the summer months you can avail yourself of the park's ice block freezing service for picnic day trips to the beach.

Walking and cycling, hundreds of miles of sandy beaches and salt marshes, and shopping and sightseeing are all within easy reach. Start off with the two circular walks near the site running to Fakenham and along the banks of the Wensum (one route stretches over two miles and the other around three and a half miles), or pedal your way to Norwich along National Cycle Network Route 1, which you can join half a mile away. The north Norfolk coast is also conveniently close, with the colourful beach huts and sand dune backdrop of Wells-next-the-Sea a 10-minute drive or a scenic cycle ride away. The local bus route to Wells also connects with the Coasthopper bus service from King’s Lynn to Cromer, or if you're feeling energetic enough you can join the Norfolk Coast Path from the town. Sculthorpe Moor Nature Reserve, a short walk from the site, is great for spotting breeding marsh harriers, water rails, kingfishers and barn owls; you can also take the ferry crossing to Blakeney Point to gaze upon colonies of seals and seabirds, or visit Pensthorpe Natural Park – the set of BBC’s Springwatch – for lakeside nature trails, woodland walks and an adventure play area.
