Syntes om 20/10 rating if it was possible. The listing does not do the site justice - 20 mins from our home we needed a short getaway to enjoy the Perseids meteor shower.

When we arrived the pitch was well laid out and well signposted. We set up and explored and to our delight found the "secret garden" area past the chicken coop and rabbit hutch... A lovely fairyland area that just kept going, we assume they hold activities there - a beautiful woodland kitchen area, many firepits... Eggs to buy, a little trust box shop, composting loos and some showers (a bucket shower and a more traditional 🚿 shower).

Portaloos by the main pitch area were very clean. There was a convenient washing up area, as well as some outdoor toys for kids. Plenty of tables and chairs to sit, relaxed and comfortable space, absolutely one of the best places I've camped on pitchup. We will definitely be going back, especially to try the activities as well.

As for the meteor shower, we knew we were too close to the city to have a really dark sky - we saw a few still, but couldn't go too far out as we had work the next day. For the distance from Southampton and Eastleigh it still felt like a nice break away from the real world!

There was also a lovely pub a walking distance away that sits beside a lake. Really felt like we were totally out of the city in a peaceful place.

Syntes om We enjoyed the quirkiness of the site and it was ideal for small children as they had the chickens and bunnies to attract them. It was reasonably priced considering it was school holidays. The staff were friendly enough and bought us wood when we requested it. Close to a lovely pub on a lake.

Syntes ikke om The chemical toilets were awful and by the end of our 2 day stay were stinking horribly. The only compost toilet was slightly better but I feel for an off grid campsite there should have been more. 2 or 3 at least. There was only one shower as well for more than 50 people and the site wasn’t even full.
Finally there is no shade on the main site and it was a hot weekend so I would recommend bringing a shade umbrella or gazebo as it gets quite hot in the tents.

We do apologise about our toilets this weekend unfortunately our cleaning company did not show due to issues otherwise everything would have been perfectly fine.

Our site is low key and we were at full capacity so it was not ideal timing but these things happen.

Syntes ikke om A bit too rustic for our liking. Didn’t feel very private with George’s Hit bring right next to communal kitchen and cut through for toilets etc.

Syntes om Everything! Absolutely incredible!
Stayed in Georges cabin and it was magical! Also run by such lovely people, would highly recommend and definitely will be back with family and friends.

Syntes ikke om I mean the only downside was the lack of power on site so just plan ahead better than me…. (Very spontaneous last minute trip) and bring a powerbank or some additional lighting. Saying that it was quite lovely for out phone batteries to die and get lost in eachothers company!

Syntes om It's on a verge of being a wild camping as the shower and toilet options are very basic, however it is a great space. Tent pitches are large and only about 10, so not overcrowded. There is fenced off woodland where the kids can run around, very curious chickens strolling around, vending machine with chicken and pig feed. There's a sheltered sitting/kitchen area in the woods with some kitchen stuff to borrow if needed. Battery in my car died and the owner very kindly managed to jump start my car. Pizza night on Fridays. Lots of stuff kids can play with, some deck chairs. Just really cool space :)

Syntes om We loved the chickens roaming the campsite and all the little decorations and lights in the trees and bushes. It was so nice and quiet so felt very private. The piglets were the cutest ever and Dan was very friendly and helpful.
Ideal walking distance to Marwell Zoo.

Syntes ikke om Personally, we'd have preferred proper toilets, and the kids were a little freaked out by the chemical and compost toilet, but it was as advertised, so no real complaints. You live and learn and it was an experience.
