Keep things cool on the Costa Brava at Camping Neptuno – pitches at this family-friendly spot are tucked away among the trees in a pine forest, so they’ve got plenty of shade as well as a lovely natural vibe.
Of course, on a Costa Brava break you don’t want to be too far from a beach – so you’ll no doubt be pleased to hear that it’s only about a mile from the site to the lovely Pals beach, a long golden stretch of sand with windsurfing for the active types and some gorgeous views to the Medes Islands for the sunbathers.
This stretch of coast also offers up plenty more excellent outings, including more beaches, scuba diving trips, sea-view golf games and cycling routes. There are cute traditional villages to visit, art museums to explore (including the excellent Gala Dalí Castle) and, inland, the city of Girona is less than an hour’s drive away.
In among all of that you’ll want to find some time to knock around on site – particularly once you’ve seen the fantastic pool area, with waterslides and a water play area as well as the main pool and kids’ pool (plus plenty of loungers for the supervising/sunbathing parents). Games of padel and table tennis might also be on the cards, or just some time at the playground. In summer, there are also kids’ club sessions and adult activities to choose from, plus theme nights and entertainment like karaoke.
Keeping everyone fed should be easy enough, as the site has a snack bar and a well-stocked supermarket. More shops and places to eat are about 10 minutes’ drive away in Pals.

Llocs d'interès
Medieval Pals (10 minutes’ drive) is not only your local village but also a gorgeous place for a wander through the maze of well-kept streets. Climb up to the Josep Pla lookout at the top of the village for the best views – they’re particularly fine at sunset.
Around the village are lots of rice fields that you can explore on foot or by bike, and there are also some splendid trails along and around the coastline. You’ll be able to look out towards the Medes Islands – or maybe you’d like to get a bit closer by signing up for a snorkelling or scuba outing to the marine reserve around the islands.
Elsewhere along the coast, villages like Begur (15 minutes) and Calella de Palafrugell (25 minutes) are worth visiting, as is the extraordinary Gala Dalí Castle & Museum (25 minutes), full of the colourful pieces the surrealist artist was known for. Historic Girona (50 minutes) should be on the schedule too, for its colourful riverfront and its gothic cathedral.
