Treat yourself and your loved ones to a holiday at Glamping de Cerveira, a family-run site on the outskirts of the historic town of Vila Nova de Cerveira (10 minutes’ drive). If you stay here, you will have not only the rural landscape of Northern Portugal to explore, but also that of Galicia – Spain is just across the Minho river, a 10-minute drive from the site. And the best bit? The Minho region is famed for its vineyards… When you’re not out and about hiking in these forested mountains, soaking up the glorious views of the Minho Valley and getting to know the local wine producers (and stocking up on their offerings), there’s plenty to do on site. Or to not do, if that’s your jam – stretch out under an umbrella by the pool (a glass of local Albarinõ in your hands), have a long soak in the hot tub, or crank the relaxation vibe up a couple of notches with a massage (please book ahead of your arrival) or a Saturday morning meditation session. While you reconnect with yourself, you can leave the kids to make new friends on the pétanque court or over a game of table football in the games room. And when they get hungry, there’s fruit to be picked from the orchard, or they can buy something from the on-site café. In the evening, you might want to gather the whole family around the communal barbecue, having sourced supplies in Vila Nova de Cerveira, which hosts a large farmer’s market on Saturdays.

Em va agradar The location in the quiet countryside with lovely views of the area from the site was great. It also served as a good access base to visit the coast and towns like Braga.
The cost of a sizeable pitch were very reasonable. We found the owners interesting and helpful.

No em va agradar Toilet and shower facilities were poor quality and numbers for campers and being unable to use the superior ones for glampers made us feel inferior customers.

Del gerent: Thank you so much for taking the time to make a review. We really appreciate the feedback because we are constantly striving to improve our services.

I don’t understand what facilities that we are missing. If you are referring to dumping facilities, the booking engine clearly stated that we don’t have dumping facilities on site. Because we have a private septic we cannot put chemical products in. As you book, there is a note that that says “Please Note”; it states we don’t have dumping facilities. However, because of your feedback, we are going to add this fact to our welcome message.

As far as lack of activities, we are not sure what you are looking for as we provide a pool, jacuzzi, table tennis, foosball, garden games, a barbecue, bar, a restaurant serving breakfast and preordered dinner. We are planning to add an hour of shared experiences.

We sincerely apologize that you felt like “second class”. We have the two bathrooms and if we don’t divide the traffic especially in the high season bathroom usage is difficult to control. We offer two different experiences, camping and glamping.

We are sorry that you don’t want to visit us again because we enjoyed your visit. We hope that you come to see how much we continue to improve.

Em va agradar The facilities were spectacular. We only stayed for a night since we went to the Vilar de Mouros festival so we couldn't enjoy everything.
The toilets were super cleaned and we had a change to test the kitchen and had coffee with the owners.

At Praia de Afife (35 minutes), backed by dunes, the kids might find crabs and other marine animals in the rockpools. The historic centre of Braga (45 minutes) is dotted with elegant Baroque buildings, including the Palácio do Raio, covered in blue azulejo tiles and dating from the 18th century. To the east of the town, Bom Jesus do Monte is a hilltop sanctuary reached by a spectacular staircase. The port town of Vigo (45 minutes), in Spain, is dominated by the Castelo do Castro, a medieval citadel on a hill covered in lush vegetation, including cedar trees and colourful camellias. A monument to Jules Verne on the marina sees the author of ‘Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas’ sitting amid octopus tentacles.
