It's not just a play area but a play palace at this family-friendly South Netherlands site: pack your little royals off for lengthy sessions at Resort WaterWeelde's outdoor playground and trampoline... or perhaps they'd also like to bounce along to the multisports field, tennis court or the activities of the entertainment team in high season...?
You don't have to leave the park to have the kids' entertainment and activity options sorted, but there's family fare aplenty in the area if you do: Resort WaterWeelde is half an hour's drive from the fairyland theme park of De Efteling for younger sorts, 25 minutes from reptile handling at Breda for brave types, and in a region of bike rides, nature spotting and adventuring for older offspring.
And for grownup concerns? This green and waterside setting is on the Hollandsch Diep, an estuary of the Rhine and Meuse rivers and close to the forests and creeks of the De Biesbosch National Park; this is one of the biggest freshwater areas in north-west Europe so is well set up for hiking, boating and other outdoor pursuits. For shopping and a spot of culture, the fortress town of Klundert is 15 minutes to the south west, Dordrecht and its canals are 20 minutes' drive north and Rotterdam is within 40 minutes.
Grownups also have an outdoor pool to keep them occupied back at this pretty riverside base, alongside a paddling pool for the offspring. Eats are sorted at the Grand Café on site, with more of the same at local town Moerdijk less than a kilometre away.

Across from the Hollandsch Diep and viewable from the site is the De Biesbosch National Park, a sizeable freshwater area with hiking, cycling, birdwatching, boating, fishing and canoeing all available. Just to the south of here and 20 minutes' drive from Resort WaterWeelde is Jachthaven Biesbosch or Biesbosch marina, with splash play area, playground, barbecues and sailing extending to the Veerse Meer.
Townwise, the fortified city of Breda is a top pick for shopping and museums; Dordrecht or Dordt has famed canals, a summer arthouse film festival in its main museum, and a medieval centre with over 950 monuments, and first-rate Rotterdam is a splendid spot for pretty much anything arts, culture or nightlife based.
