If surrounding yourselves with natural views is part of the plan for your holiday, take a look at EuroParcs Maasduinen. This well-appointed site is on the edge of the Maasduinen National Park, with mature forests all around and lots of trees and greenery throughout the site to make sure you feel like you’re entirely immersed in nature. Pick a spot at this Limburg site close to Belfeld (about 10 minutes from the centre by bike) and you’ll be staying close to one of its lakes, with the opportunity to go out for woodland walks just by the property. Perhaps you’ll walk all the way to Germany? (Not that much of an achievement – the border is only a few hundred metres away – but a good holiday story anyway…) You may like to spend your days here exploring the nearby cities of Venlo and Roermond, taking walks in the national park or wandering by the River Meuse. There’s also the option of hiring bikes or e-choppers on site to tour on two wheels. Or you may simply prefer to relax on site, sunbathing and paddling at the lake beach, making use of the indoor pool or taking some me-time at the fitness/wellness area (with an infrared sauna and gym). A sports field, playground, go-kart rental and programme of kids’ activities are on hand to keep active young ones busy, and the site also has a snack bar and restaurant to make sure everyone stays well fed.

Aquest és un lloc bonic i ben cuidat, amb una atmosfera tranquil·la i excel·lents restaurants. Els clients van gaudir del llac i les activitats. Em va agradar Great campsite. Big pitch. Lovely to have a little lake to swim in. Close to many bike/ walking paths. Clean facilities. Excellent restaurant (although pricey). Most staff could speak English even with menus/ signs etc. being in Dutch and German.

No em va agradar Toilets/ showers a bit tatty but clean and functional.

Em va agradar Everything here was tip top. Of the dozen or so campsites I’ve been to on this trip, this was by far the nicest. Beautiful scenery, a beach, a pond, friendly staff and even a welcome gift.

No em va agradar They’ve installed plastic black and yellow speed bumps on the site that shake your RV to bits unless your going 0,001 km/h.

Site is a bit expensive but then again, it’s worth it

Em va agradar The campsite is located in a lovely area where you can easily walk to Germany for a nice meal and some drinks. The actual site has everything you need and we loved the Italian restaurant which did beautiful food. The facilities are excellent and although the weather wasn’t great the kids enjoyed the lake and hiring a paddle board.

No em va agradar Well, we are hardened campers and not put off by the weather at all but the tent field was absolutely waterlogged and very muddy. As the week went on our pitch smelt more and more of swamp water. The campsite staff were draining water as well as they could but it was awful. I don’t know if they usually allow groups of single sex parties but on our last night at about 2 am a group of boys not staying in the camping area came down clearly drunk and were yelling and messing about. Our two children aged 11 and 14 were quite shook up as the lads started shaking our tent and screaming. They disappeared then came back 15 minutes later and did it again.

Em va agradar Peaceful site

No em va agradar The motorhome pitches were on very boggy ground. No hard standing pitches. It rained a lot so we ended up being over ankle deep in water and having to splash through to the toilets. We were worried about getting stuck in but managed to get out ok in our vw camper. The toilet complex was a really bad design but it was clean. The toilets are outside the building. No internal corridor. So you get wet going to the toilet. Then if you want to wash your hands you have to walk round into the building. The price for 2 people and a dog was 53 euros for the night!!! Next time we will stay at a service station. At least we won't be under water there.

Em va agradar Bardzo ale to bardzo ładny park!!! Spokojnie,czysto bardzo zadbane miejsce i czyste toalety. Jest dla dzieci plac zabaw i organizowane zabawy. Restauracja z bardzo dobrym jedzeniem

If you’d like to see some of the area’s nature but you’re not in the mood for a long walk, how about a shorter stroll around Jochumhof Botanic Garden (10 minutes’ drive), which also has lovely views over the River Meuse? Meanwhile, if you prefer to see a bit of history as you wander, take a trip to see the well-preserved buildings in Venlo (15 minutes) or Roermond (20 minutes) – the latter also has a designer shopping village for those who’d like to splash some cash. Things to keep the kids entertained? Try a day out at BillyBird Park Drakenrijk (15 minutes), explore the various activities at Speelpark Klein Zwitserland (15 minutes) or spend some time exploring the rides, shows and themed areas at Toverland theme park (25 minutes) – which also happens to have the tallest and fastest wooden rollercoaster in the whole of Benelux. If that all sounds a bit exhausting, instead you might like to meet the animals at GaiaZoo (50 minutes) or just take a soak at Arcen thermal baths (half an hour).
