The brains behind Camp La Belle Vie say they'd like you to feel the force of nature – and feel it you most certainly will, thanks to the site’s open countryside setting in eastern Luxembourg’s lush ‘Little Switzerland’ hiking region. Not that it’s just about the trekking here. Simply basking on the grass at this peaceful park is also a top choice – the place has been set up on a gentle slope (part of a hillside rising 373 metres into the sky), and faces south for getting the best of the weather on sunny days. Plonk yourself down and supervise the kids at the site’s adventure playground, perhaps chomping on cheese from the fromagerie a couple of minutes’ walk down the road in Berdorf as you do. Surrounded by a stunning landscape of fields and forests with rocks, caves and brooks to dawdle around, and looking out on the Black Ernz, Sure and Aesbech valleys, Berdorf’s one of Luxembourg’s main tourist centres. The scenery’s stunning whether you’re wandering close by to the Hohllay Cave and Aquatower Berdorf, both less than 15 minutes’ walk away, or setting forth for the famed Müllerthal Trail through silt marshes with soul-stirring viewpoints to stop off at. With this site as your base, you’ll be well set up for explores, and for the post-explore recovery period: there’s a shop, laundry facilities and wifi connection on site, along with well-maintained bathrooms that have both cold and hot water.

Em va agradar Het ontvangst was ok, de bar was ok.
De camping was netjes. Er waren nieuwe stacaravans. De camping is ook een vertrekplaats voor de trails.

No em va agradar Het aanwezige winkeltje was beperkt, maar achter de hoek is een vrij ruime winkel om te bevoorraden.

Em va agradar Location and bar.
Staff were helpful and friendly.
The late departure time.
Play areas for children - we don’t have any children but the equipment for their use was smashing and obviously enjoyed. I suspect one or two adults had a go after dark!

No em va agradar Sloping pitch, proximity of pitches made it feel overcrowded, mixed campervans and tents. Non- existent internet.
The pitch we were allocated had previously been used by tent campers who had not used breathable ground sheets consequently it was mostly bare dry earth - fortunately it didn’t rain or it would have been a mud patch!

Em va agradar Location for hiking in Little Switzerland area.

No em va agradar A festival was taking place at the site for the whole weekend which we were not aware of. The site should have removed the option to book via pitch up for the weekend as this wasn’t fair when we were expecting a quiet site. Instead we had noise until the early hours, much as it was entertaining hearing the ‘healing tent’ at 1am the screaming and screeching didn’t belong to any owls. The toilets were not being cleaned and pretty filthy. Again if you are having a festival then I would expect attention to cleaning as it’s obvious it would be needed more frequently.

Em va agradar Lovely freidnly staff, made us feel welcome after a long drive. Lovely campsite. Kids loved the creativity of the park it was amazing even my 11 year old didnt want to leave. Pitches where lovely and spacious.

Em va agradar Sehr freundlicher Empfang. Toller Start für Wandern oder Biken.
Grosse offene Parzellen. Buntes tolles Treiben da Zelte und WoMos gemischt. Auf diesem Platz, durchaus ein Gewinn. Saubere Sanitäre Anlagen in der Nähe zum Platz.

Em va agradar De tent. Het was netjes, en we voelde ons welkom. Er lagen handdoeken klaar, bedden waren opgemaakt. Personeel vriendelijk en behulpzaam.

No em va agradar Sanitair gebouw. De douche's hebben geen goede straal. Wc brillen zaten soms los. De camlong kan her en der wat opknapping gebruiken.

Berdorf’s rich in things to do. Start with a wander to Hohllay Cave (15 minutes' walk), hollowed out by miners who left a scarred surface behind in their quest to conjure up rounded millstones. Sort tickets for a concert in this natural amphitheatre – they're on every now and again – then head over to the Aquatower Berdorf, a technology museum in a water tower with smashing views out over the green landscape (15 minutes). Once you’re back down on the ground, drive to Echternach (10 minutes), the oldest town in the Grand Duchy, and snake around the winding streets seeking out city wall remnants, the Benedictine abbey and a gothic townhouse before moving over to the lake on the town’s perimeter to rove around the ruins of the biggest Roman villa north of the Alps. From here, continue to the German-Luxembourgish Nature Park (25 minutes’ drive) to amble around the deep Devil's Gorge and pretty Irreler Waterfall.
