What a view – Camping a’Zania sits at 800 metres above sea level, with fabulous views over the surrounding mountains of the Apuan Alps Regional Natural Park. And there’s no need to fight over who gets the best spot here, either, as the site has been terraced across five levels to provide an equally excellent outlook for all guests. That’s just one of the thoughtful features at this Tuscany site, which has a back-to-basics vibe and is surrounded by open spaces. It maintains its peaceful natural atmosphere by asking guests to leave cars and other vehicles outside the pitching area so that everyone can enjoy some countryside quiet time. They’ve also installed an electric car charging point (fee applies), along with a coin-operated washing machine, a drinking water tap and bathroom blocks (with a total of 14 toilets and six showers). Need a hand with anything? There’s always a warden on site to dish out useful advice. In high season, there's a snack bar on site that serves Italian breakfasts, fresh coffee and pizzas later in the day; drinks like wine and beer are sold from 6pm to 8pm. For other eats, bring along supplies to use the barbecue area on site (perhaps using some sage, rosemary or other herbs from the bushes around it) or ask the team about ordering local products (in low season) or arranging group meals. You could also see what’s on the stalls at the weekly Wednesday market in the local village (local honey, wine and cheese are often top picks). Gallicano and Castelnuovo di Garfagnana (both 25 minutes’ drive) have supermarkets for any other things you might need. In between spates of admiring the views from the pitches, you can head out on the family-friendly hiking trails around the site or visit nearby adventure parks and show caves. For hiking or climbing, you might want to check out Falesia "Le Rocchette" (30 minutes' walk away or a 10-minute drive), Piglionico (40 minutes' walk) and Pania Secca mountain (an hour's drive).

Em va agradar The campsite is beautiful, the host very friendly. It is great that you can have a fire or barbecue outside, there is a swing and a few hammocks. It is also possible to buy a drink or order bread.

No em va agradar The ladies showers were not ready yet. The hoses were hanging down and the curtains didn’t close well. But the main thing is that is was clean.

Em va agradar Quiet peaceful location of this rustic campsite. Good location for hikes right out of the site. Friendly owner. The drive is worth it to get back to nature.

Em va agradar Wir wurden sehr herzlich empfangen. Der Campingplatz ist mitten in der Natur mit begrünten Terrassen und hat einen wunderschönen Wanderweg, den man direkt vom Campingplatz aus wandern kann.Die Duschen erfüllten ihren Zweck (man konnte richtig heiß duschen) und wurden täglich gereinigt. Es gibt Grillplätze, und Stromversorgung. Die Wanderung war unser Highlight des Urlaubs.
Gastfreundlich war auch, dass die Betreiber fragten, ob wir Brot benötigen, da über Ostern die Supermärkte geschlossen hatten.

No em va agradar Man sollte sich gut eindecken, da es in der direkten Nähe kein Supermarkt gibt.

Em va agradar Accueil très sympa,la propriétaire vous donnera une foule d’infos sur les balades ,les choses à voir et à faire et même des emplacements de parking gratuit / le lieu est calme et isolé avec tout de même un refuge à côté où on peut boire un coup, se restaurer et acheter de quoi pique-niquer / les gérants ont plein de projets pour améliorer le confort des campeurs,allez-y c’est un camping comme on les aime,en voie de disparition !

Start by exploring your immediate surroundings – a waymarked hiking trail starts just outside the site, and the popular ‘Le Rocchette’ climbing site is about 10 minutes’ drive or an hour’s walk away. A shorter trail of 15 minutes leads to the little church of Parrocchia Di Sant'Antonio In Alpe. Whichever you choose, tread quietly and you may well spot antelopes, owls and other wildlife as you walk or climb. A little further afield, there are more hikes at places like Monte Nome del Gesù and Piglionico (both 15 minutes’ drive) or around the Cascata "Della Pendolina” (40 minutes). Canyoning, caving and guided treks are available at Parco Avventura Levigliese (35 minutes), or you can get underground without scrambling at Grotta del Vento (45 minutes) to see stalactites and crystal-fringed subterranean lakes. To dip back into urban life you could take a wander around the ancient walls and fortress of Castelnuovo di Garfagnana (25 minutes) or head off to Lucca (an hour), an attractive place known as the 'city of a hundred churches’.
