BeVedetta is a springboard for sports activities down on the coast – anything from diving to sailing, kitesurfing and windsurfing. If you’d rather be somewhere more peaceful, you’ll find a choice of secluded sandy coves like Cala Violina (20 minutes’ drive), reached by forest path, or Cala Civette (15 minutes), accessed by wading across the shallow Alma river. If birdwatching is your thing, then take a walk in Padule di Scarlino nature reserve (10 minutes), where you may spot marsh harriers and other rare birds of prey. Inland it’s possible to go mountain biking, e-biking (remember those hills), pony trekking and hiking in the untamed Regional Park of Maremma (straight from site). While you’re there, keep an eye out for the Maremma cows and Amiata donkeys that graze freely on the scrubby pastureland. Prefer your pastimes with a more cultural vibe? Book tickets for the summer 'Lirica in Piazza' concerts in a lovely square in Massa Marittima (25 minutes) or pay a visit to the stripy cathedral in Grosseto (40 minutes) and tour the Etruscan ceramics and medieval statuary in the Museo Archeologico e d’Arte della Maremma.
