Agricampeggio’s always a promising word to see on a site name – read that single word and you’ll no doubt conjure up images of a place that grows tasty things and is happy to share them with the guests that come along to stay.
And you’d be spot on with that suggestion at Agricampeggio Terra di Moro in the Puglia hills five minutes’ drive from Torre Mozza. The tasty thing that takes centre stage here is the olive – the place is packed with ancient trees that give plenty of shade for folk pitching up under their branches and provide the raw materials for the olive oils made on site (which you can, of course, purchase to keep the holiday vibes going when you get home).
But man cannot live by oil alone, and so the folk here also offer up other eats for their guests, including breakfast every day and dinners by reservation for those who’d like to sample a bit of home cooking making the most of top-notch local produce.
If you’re the sort that values the chance to delegate tasks on hols, the offerings don’t stop at just food, as the people here also run a shuttle service for easy jaunts to the local beach. For other outings nearby, there are lots of walks to be had in the Litorale di Ugento Regional Nature Park, and stacks of splendid beaches for days of swims and sunbathing.

Reckon you can’t afford a beach hol to the Maldives? Think again… well, almost. The sands are pretty dreamy at Le Maldive del Salento (15 minutes’ drive) – take a paddle here, stretch out on the sand and you’ll barely notice you’re not staying in those far-flung tropical islands.
And you’ll not want to stop there with the beach times, for there’s more not far away – try out the sands of Lido Marini (10 minutes), Torre Vado (20 minutes) and local fave Torre Mozza (five minutes), which is also a good place to have a crack at kitesurfing.
For a bit more activity, take a walk along the trails that wander through the wetlands, woods and rocks of the Litorale di Ugento regional park (15 minutes) or head out to potter around little local villages such as Presicce and Ugento (both 15 minutes away).
