A holiday in a spectacularly scenic part of Italy with a maxed out amount of stuff to see and do both on site and nearby? Sightsee to the utmost at Camping Maximum, a leafy family site in Rimini that's been welcoming guests for nearly 60 years. It's a simple single kilometre from here to Riccione, on Italy's Riviera Romagnola, within easy reach of historic citadels, theme parks, waterparks and a marine park, and about half an hour's drive from the tiny republic of San Marino. Maximum is a seaside site, with a beach a 30-metre stroll away for guests' free use. It and the beach are dog friendly (for more walkies, a park is 100 metres away). Both beach and park are excellent options for whiling away most of your Italian seaside holiday time, but when you're ready to go off out exploring, a tourist information service and nightclub ticket sales are at the Camping Maximum Disco Info point, for busy times both day and night. This is a big and spacious site, with plenty of room for playing safely and room for car parking including inside space. Facilities include a bar and restaurant, a mini market and playground; there are safety deposit boxes for guests' use, and there's free wifi throughout. Kids' activities and entertainment for adults are arranged by the site in high season.

Llocs d'interès

Camping Maximum is within easy reach of the tiny independent republic of San Marino. Measuring 61 square kilometres, it's made up of nine municipalities each hosting its own settlement, the largest being the UNESCO-listed the medieval town of Dogana, set on the slopes of Monte Titano. A short drive south along the coast will take you to Cattolica, and an aquarium home to thousands of marine species, or in the opposite direction to Oltremare Marine Park near Rimini, famed for its dolphin lagoon and other attractions such as its stingray tank, tropical fish, seahorses, parrots and Adventure Island playground. The seaside theme park of Fiabilandia and the waterpark of Aquafun are also within easy reach. Other places worth a trip include city of mosaics Ravenna and the tourist hotspot of Riccione with its busy nightlife and shopping areas. Or you could nip along to Santarcangelo di Romagna, with its avant-garde theatre festival; the Regional Natural Park of Sasso Simone and Simoncello, and the legendary 14th-century Malatesta Fortress.
