Ciraccio - Procida Camp and Resort

A luxury hideaway on the island of Procida that’s (literally) a few steps from Ciraccio beach, Ciraccio – Procida Camp and Resort is a glampsite with more than a few touches of Italian style about it. From the moment you arrive on the island, everything is convenient and easy, including the transfer service from the ferry port and the daily cleaning service in your accommodation. The spacious, two-floor lodges have a contemporary design with a mix of double, single and bunk beds for up to four guests, a shower room and ample living space. Interior temperatures stay cool in summer thanks to the air conditioning, and the covered decking provides shade for leisurely open-air dining. Each lodge also has a private garden with an outdoor eating area and comfy loungers for catching the sun, plus an alfresco shower for rinsing off any sand and salt from the beach. Kickstart the morning with a delivery of fresh pastries, fruit and coffee, and live the dolce vita with cocktails and artisan pizzas from the open-fronted wooden bar. There’s also a firepit in the shared garden if you like the sound of grilling up something tasty for supper. How to spend your time on site? That’s a tough one. Hang out at the solarium, laze on the beach or take a refreshing dip in the waves – and if you’re looking for more challenging activities, rent electric bikes, dinghies and paddleboards on site and head for the hills or the sea.

Settle you and yours down on loungers at Ciraccio beach (five minutes’ walk), or tour the island by boat, kayak or on foot to discover hidden Procida beaches tucked into small coves. Potter along the rugged coastline to crescent-shaped Chiaia beach (20 minutes) first thing (it gets shady in the afternoon) for a morning dip, or install yourselves for the day at the small lido and bar on Pozzo Vecchio beach (10 minutes). Cross the island to the pastel-hued seaside town of Marina di Corricella (half an hour) to have a wander around its 17th-century fishing cottages and sherbert-coloured Santa Maria delle Grazie Incoronata church. The steep medieval streets of hilltop Terra Murata (40 minutes) beckon for views over the Tyrrhenian Sea to Capri, Ischia and Naples – with Vesuvius on the horizon. Plan a day trip to Ischia (15 minutes by hydrofoil) to see the mighty Castello Aragonese on its rocky outcrop, or head to the mainland and impressive history museums and art galleries in lively Naples (40 minutes by ferry). Travel right back in time to explore the ancient Roman ruins at Pozzuoli (half an hour’s drive from Naples).
