What lovely locale is this…Tiegezh au Camping Le Bois Dormant is in the lushly green Vendée region, a couple of kilometres from the golden and family-friendly sandy beaches of Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez for bright sunny days and gentle strolls along its long stretch. Sticking around on site is highly recommended too, as there's plenty on offer to keep all ages busy including a big waterpark (extra charges apply) with two heated pools, waterslides, a paddling pool, a hot tub and a sauna. Football pitches and courts for basketball, tennis and pétanque are around for getting active; for getting lazy, amble along to the TV room to watch the gogglebox or play one of the board games provided for guests. A kids' club with plenty of activities is run by the friendly team and theme dances, karaoke and cabaret shows are arranged in the evenings for grownups. When you're ready to venture into the Vendée, go via the site's tourist info point, where the staff are on hand to help you arrange trips and excursions into this lovely locale.

The Vendée area is rightly popular for its beaut sandy beaches, long lengths of coast, spectacular scenery and its history and culture. Its beaches, often backed by pine forests, are top spots for families and kids, photographers, artists and sporty sorts, who can take their pick from cycling, windsurfing or walking and jogging along the several seafronts. The knowledgeable Tiegezh au Camping Le Bois Dormant team particularly recommends the handsome and golden beaches of St Jean de Monts: stroll along the promenade of its main sandy stretch for plenty of shops and bars, as well as restaurants at which to sample some tasty local nosh. Popular day trips from St Jean de Monts include the islands of Noirmoutier and Yeu, both well worth a day trip (each). Noirmoutier has a twelfth century castle, now home to the island's history museum; a traditional market, and the splendid Chaise forest, made up of oaks and mimosas. Another medieval castle is at Yeu, along with snapworthy scenes at its small harbour, filled with traditional fishing boats and ferries coming in from the mainland.
