Just over the dune from the beach... how fab does this Vendée site sound? Camping La Davière Plage is a summer seaside site, on the edge of a pine forest and an easy 900-metre amble out of the grounds and past the sand dunes to a spectacular sandy beach. There are – naturellement – several more lush sandy stretches around this part of Pays de la Loire and the Côte de Lumière: Saint-Jean-de-Monts is a few kilometres along the coast, Saint-Gilles Croix de Vie and Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez are within 25 minutes, and Bretignolles-sur-Mer is within 40. You can also reach Les Sables-d'Olonne in just over an hour, and the island of Noirmoutier in 30 minutes. As you'll see if you manage to get the kids off the beach, Camping La Davière Plage is a family-friendly site with a nicely rounded range of things to do for all sizes of guests. Small sorts have arts and crafts, treasure hunts, outdoor games and the like available at the kids' club from Sunday to Friday, while teens and adults can get stuck into sports competitions or laze around in the big heated pool or accompanying Jacuzzi. A playground and paddling pool are also around for juniors. Dances, karaoke nights, magic nights, concert and bingo are on offer for all ages in the evenings, in the site snack bar open from morning until night. La Davière Plage also has a games room for all ages, with video games, billiards and table football.

Llocs d'interès

Watersports, fishing and long days of beach basking are within ambling distance, as are bike trails, walking paths and a golf course. Take a shuttle bus to get to the shopping area or Saint-Jean-de-Monts and its eight-kilometre sandy beach. Going north, it's 12 kilometres to the coastal town of La Barre de Monts, reachable by car or bike from here or via the bridge of the Passage du Gois from Beauvoir-sur-Mer. Take the ferry to the spectacular and famed isle of Noirmoutier, for 50 kilometres of beaches, more scenic cycling trails and fab l'Herbaudiere harbour, with rockpools on either side for mussel foraging. Sailing centres for boating and kayaking sessions and lessons are at Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez, along with riding stables to arrange hacks into the coastal pine forest. The Atlantic Toboggan waterpark is a kilometre from town.
