All set for family fun times? Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie site Camping Bahamas Beach is geared up to give good times for all ages.
This friendly Vendée site may not in fact be in the Bahamas, but it’s definitely near a beach – a mere 10-minute stroll or short bike ride takes you down to the peaceful sands of Le Jaunay beach. It’s worth bringing bikes or hiring on site for that journey, the 15-minute jaunt into town (along quiet, flat cycle paths) for restaurants, shops and bars.
Heaps of fab days out can be had from here – watersports in Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, trips to the islands of Yeu and Noirmoutier and zoo or theme park outings. And heaps of fab days in can be had too, playing pétanque, table tennis and miniature golf, having fun in the playground or splashing about at the pool (a heated outdoor number with waterslide, paddling pool and a cover so the fun can continue on cloudier days).
Come along in summer and you can add to the mix a range of activities tailored for kids, teens and adults, and evenings filled with family-friendly entertainment.
And what of life’s essentials? Well, eats and drinks are sorted on site with a snack bar, bar and small shop with fresh bread daily. And with any luck sleeps will be a cinch too – a combination of pleasingly spacious and shaded pitches and all that activity tiring everyone out should see to that.

Llocs d'interès
Saunter into Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie in 20 minutes or so and all sorts of aquatic activities await – here you can learn the art of surfing, take to the waters for windsurfing or don scuba kit to sink below the surface. It’s also the place to set off from for boat trips to the island of Yeu for walks and bike rides through its stunning heaths and dunes. If you're not up for the boat ride, head for the island of Noirmoutier instead – there's a bridge to this one, so you can drive there in about 45 minutes.
Aiming away from the coast a little, a golf course and an adventure park are 15 minutes’ drive away, and there are walks, bike rides and canoe outings to be had through the area’s salt marshes. A couple of horse riding centres within 20 minutes’ drive can hook you up with wetland or beach rides.
For full days out, it’s worth taking the hour-long drive to the huge Planète Sauvage safari park or the similar journey to Puy du Fou, the history-inspired theme park that’s one of France’s fave attractions.
