La Petite Place dans Les Bois

Bring your walking boots along – there are lots of places to get out for a very scenic walk around here. The Millevaches Regional Natural Park is well known as a place full of gorgeous landscapes including heather moors, peat bogs, forests and wetlands… and of course those stunning night skies too. If you need to cool off after a long walk, stop by at the nearby village of Tarnac (10 minutes’ drive), where you can take a dip in the lake from a beach area. For more lakeside action, there are several beaches at Lake Vassivière (half an hour) for boating, windsurfing, canoeing and fishing. The treetop trails of D'Arbre en Arbre Vassivière are on hand for anyone that wants to see the scenery from above. For a gentle stroll rather than a hike, the pretty village of Treignac (25 minutes) should fit the bill with its narrow streets and medieval houses (and another lake beach for a paddle if it all gets a bit warm…) Lovely Eymoutiers (half an hour) is another fine choice with art museums and historic buildings to explore.
