Camping Ushuaïa Villages Le Village des Sources

Keen anglers have it good at Le Village des Sources, with fishing for perch and trout at Lac du Bouloc (five minutes’ walk) and in several places along the River Orb. Anyone into hiking or cycling also wins out, with spectacular trails through forest and Monts d’Orb foothills accessible directly from the site. If you prefer the bustle of storied towns, you’re in luck too. Medieval Béziers (an hour’s drive) makes a great day trip for its cathedral and grand squares lined with cafés, and you can take a 40-minute walk along the Canal du Midi to the lock flight at Écluses de Fonseranes. Montpellier is also about an hour away, with a medieval old town and stellar architecture like the neoclassical Porte du Peyrou triumphal arch – round up your urban day out at a Place de la Comédie bar. The mineral spas of lovely hillside Avène-les-Bains (15 minutes) await, where you can take the therapeutic waters at the Station Thermale d’Avène. Another day trip that’s good for the soul is to Lerab Ling Buddhist Temple (also 15 minutes), for a stroll around the shrine-dotted water gardens and a moment of contemplation in the gilded pagoda-style temple itself.
