Camping des Salines

A short drive away, Salies-de-Béarn is crossed by the Saleys river and filled with whitewashed houses that are decked out with painted shutters, sloping roofs and wooden balconies, and its network of little laneways makes it a prime spot for aimless afternoon wanders. The town also has a golf course, and you can play a round or two of miniature golf in the public gardens there too. The town has built its name as a tourist fave due to its abundance of natural saline spring-fed thermal spas, and has grown into quite the cultural capital with a calendar of renowned festivals and events that run from May right through to October every year, celebrating everything from film to food, antiques, art and motoring. As you're right among mountainous lands you're within easy reach of hiking, cycling, paragliding and fishing, plus a whole heap of whitewater sports such as rafting, canoeing and canyoning. For long sandy walks, sunbathing, swimming and surfing the coves, cliffs and secluded bays around the towns of Anglet, Saint Jean de Luz, Biarritz and Hendaye are all about an hour's drive from Camping des Salines.
