Don’t be fooled by the word ‘city’ in the name of Kvarner site Eco Camp Rizvan City – it’s actually a firmly rural place in the teeny village of Rizvanuša, around 10 minutes’ drive from the amenities of Gospić. With that rural location comes lots of super scenery – this spot is just at the foot of Velebit mountain and surrounded by some of Croatia’s finest countryside: it’s well-placed on the edge of the Velebit Nature Park and within easy reach of the Paklenica National Park and the Plitvice Lakes National Park. As if that wasn’t enough on the fine views front, the coast is only a half-hour drive away. Sorting fresh-air activities is very straightforward here: the activity centre just by the site can send you up into the trees on the climbing wall, giant swing, zipline and high ropes course, or sort days out including quad bike safaris, kayak trips and caving adventures. You can also hire bikes on site for heading out into the surrounding area, or stick about on site to cool off with a swim in the open-air pool. Dogs are welcome to join you at this laidback site, and there’s also plenty of space for barbecues. Free wifi, a washing-up area, showers and toilets are also available.

Em va agradar Sehr schöner Stellplatz auf einer Wiese. Duschen und WC auch in Ordnung. Der Pool machte einen sauberen Eindruck… haben wir allerdings nicht benutzt.

No em va agradar Wir konnten keine Stelle finden wo man das Grauwasser entleeren konnten! Eine Dusche war verstopft…. Das Wasser lief nur ganz langsam ab

No em va agradar The campsite is shared with the activity centre next door. It makes the limited space very cramped and the toilets and showers extremely busy.

Em va agradar Level Tent pitch large enough for car and tent, camping on the grass, electricity on the pitch but w/o extension cable available.
Quiet place not far from the highway, budget price, nice surroundings.

There’s much to keep you busy at the outdoor activity centre next door, and particularly adventurous sorts might like to challenge themselves to an ascent of Velebit mountain (trails start 20 minutes’ drive away). Croatia’s a country packed with stunning scenery, so if the local views have given you a thirst for more, set out to see the vistas of the Paklenica National Park or the glittering waters of the Plitvice Lakes National Park. Both are around an hour’s drive away. If it’s coastal views that get you going, drive for half an hour to the nearest beach, Tatinja, or head to Prizna (45 minutes) for the ferry to Pag. Beyond that (but worth the trip) are Zadar and boat trips to the Kornati National Park. For a little break from all the outdoor adventuring, head to the Nikola Tesla Memorial Centre (10 minutes), in the electrical innovator’s former home, or visit the furry beasts at Kuterevo bear sanctuary (an hour).
