An immaculately maintained lawn with expansive mountain views in the distance: not too shabby a location to spend your holiday, right? And that’s exactly what awaits at Camping Freskia. This peaceful, family-friendly site in northern Albania’s Shkodër County is in Theth National Park – and boy, does it deliver the wow factor when it comes to setting and scenery. You can step out of your accommodation in the morning to be greeted by glorious views of the forested slopes and rugged peaks of the Albanian Alps, and the Lumi i Thethit river below. Before a day of hiking, you can fortify yourself with a traditional breakfast at the restaurant, which also serves a range of meals at dinnertime. You’ll probably be grateful for the on-site catering, for this spot is pretty isolated: Theth, the nearest village, is 20 minutes’ drive away on the rather gnarly SH21 road, with its hairpin turns and unpaved stretches (although there are also a couple of restaurants within a 20-minute drive). And there is lots more to be grateful for here, including a toilet block, hot-water showers (including disabled facilities), drinkable water, a launderette and a washing-up area, not to mention friendly owners who are on hand to provide information on the local sights. Barbecues are supplied, and a small shop on site sells local produce, so you and your family (and your dog, who is welcome here) can settle down for an evening of grilling, relaxing and taking in the spectacle of the night sky.

Aquest càmping tranquil ofereix parcel·les generoses amb vistes a la muntanya i un ambient acollidor. Els clients lloen el menjar casolà deliciós i els serveis abundants. Tot i que la majoria d'instal·lacions estan ben mantingudes, alguns van notar problemes amb la tensió elèctrica i l'aigua calenta per rentar plats. No hi ha instal·lacions per abocar aigües grises ni lavabos químics. Molt recomanat per la seva relació qualitat-preu i la seva ubicació.

Em va agradar It’s a peaceful and spotless place with incredibly welcoming hosts and generous space. They provide food and drinks, and there's a restaurant on-site.
Water: Fresh water is available on-site

No em va agradar Electricity: Available but basic voltage is too low (170–180V). An attempt to connect via a cable from the house was highly unstable, causing power surges that can damage devices. A solar setup is highly recommended. Disposal: No gray water or chemical toilet emptying facilities.

Em va agradar The camping has everything you need! Showers with hot water, toiletts, a fountain with fresh drinking water and even a volleyball field. You can enjoy amazing food freshly cooked from his mother while watching the breathtaking mountains. We were a bit unprepared and our tent was leaking when it rained. Christian offered us to stay in his fathers van for free eventhough he could have rent us a room in exchange for money. What a great soul!! We also had trouble cooking sometimes but gladly Christian helped us out! We are so greatful for his help! We definitely recommed the Freskia camping.

Em va agradar Reservation online, personal welcome, view on the mountains, home made dinner. The entrance road is a nice experience. Many activities are possible in the sorrounding.

You’ll be in the middle of Theth National Park here, so get exploring those mountains covered with oak and beech forests. Although brown bears and grey wolves live in these woods, you’re much more likely to come across roe deer and wild goats during your hikes. You might also catch a glimpse of a swooping golden eagle. Across the river, dwarfed by the dramatic mountainous landscape, is the pretty 19th-century church of Kisha e Thethit (15 minutes’ drive), with its typically alpine architecture of stone walls and sloping wooden roofs. A short stroll further south takes you to the Reconciliation Tower, where disputes among villagers were once settled. This area is also known for its many cascades, including the dramatic Grunas waterfall (20 minutes), with water falling down a sheer rock face from a height of 25m into a boulder-dotted pond where you can have a swim – if you can brave the rather chilly temperature, that is.
