When a business has been running since 1962, you know they have to be doing something right. Or, in the case of Fron Farm Caravan and Camping Park, quite a lot of things… The Roberts family have been running this Flintshire site for several decades now, and over that time it’s developed into a popular spot for a North Wales holiday. It helps that the location is an excellent one, of course, in a rural area with lovely views of the mountains of the Clwydian Range, and the lively market town of Mold 10 minutes’ drive away. Plenty more attractions are close by, too, in an area that can rightly be described as having something for everyone. Moel Famau is 10 minutes’ drive away for hardcore hikers, with country parks also on hand for gentler walks. Castles, a steam railway and other heritage attractions are scattered around, and you can also spend the day on a sandy beach or head to the likes of Liverpool or Chester for a city day. Back at base, a lot of effort has gone into getting the facilities just right. The farm has a reception and shop area, two modern toilet and shower blocks (with disabled facilities) and a couple of laundry rooms with coin-operated machines. There’s also takeaway food available at the weekends in peak season. On top of all that, there are two play areas and plenty of green space for the kids to run around, and they’ll be able to see animals around the farm. Dogs are welcome and have their own exercise area to scamper about in.

Em va agradar Facilities were great. Grandchildren had a good weekend. Lovely hosts and good site shop. Free WiFi was a bonus . We were lucky with the weather. Definitely recommend and hope to visit again.

Em va agradar This is a beautiful, well maintained site. We was on a slope so I would request not to be in that spot again next time as I nearly went into the fridge a few times 😅. Facilities was spotless the owner we seen when we arrived and also around and about during our stay and he had a smile and was polite and helpful. Large group of kid was here while we was and although they was loud they was polite and respectful, wasn't loud after quite times 10.30pm and was just being general children. We would definitely return and recommend 👍

No em va agradar Only one negative and it is a very small thing, it would have been nice to have a shower curtain in the shower cubicle so that my clothes didn’t get wet while showering, also having a stool to raise my sponge bag off the floor. But it didn’t distract from a lovely couple of nights away.

Em va agradar We loved the location. It was ideal for exploring everything we wanted to see in North Wales. The on site shop was handy for snacks and some nice treats. The highlight was the free roaming goats! My daughter absolutely loved spending time with them and we'd like travel back to the site just for the goats, haha.

We had pigeons pooping on our caravan from an overhanging tree branch, once I'd spoken to the owner of the site he immediately came and cut the branch down for us.

The toilet facilities are very modern. The warden does what he can to keep them clean, unfortunately in this day and age theirs always one that spoils it for everyone and everyday the shower, toilet, sink and washing up area was left in a mess (we stayed for 10nights) The park was extremely quiet as the kids are back at school, so unfortunately I think the culprit is a seasonal guest. This isn't a negative against the site, this is a lazy, entitled guest that is at fault.

No em va agradar We didn't like the amount of scooters and toys left out near the park. We were unsure if they were just dumped as they never seemed to move or to be played with. There's a lot of seasonal touring caravans on site and we personally feel that they should keep their areas much tidier and have less "stuff" just laying around their pitches. Some of them were very untidy (some of them were also very lovely)

This isn't a dislike, just a heads up....... Make sure you follow the parks instructions on the route to take, and be prepared for an immediate very steep climb up to the campsite as soon as you turn off the main road. It may not be an issue for lighter units, but our caravan fully loaded weighs in at 1800kg.

Em va agradar We liked the pitch we we allocated in a quieter area .shower and toilet block was clean and tidy .liked the dog enclosure where you could let your dog off the lead needs some mesh under the bottom of the gate as smaller dogs could escape ! And walks straight from the park .

No em va agradar People not securing there dogs at their tents .some loose dogs running around not ideal when you have a reactive dog .

Em va agradar Go at least once a year to this site. We live close to it so it’s easy for us as a last minute getaway for a night or two- a quiet site with lovely staff and excellent amenities

Em va agradar Good facilities: hot water for washing up, clean toilet and shower blocks.

Good play areas.

Good location for walks.

No em va agradar Small EHU pitches. No room for awning and the car.
Bank Holiday weekend, so loud. I picked this site because its said it was a quiet. I tried to keep my kids quiet in the morning but I dont know why I bothered. Kids running wild on the site, no parents to be seen. Cowboy night music went on till midnight.

The site isn't really for camping. Its mainly seasonal pitches.

Take a hike – there are some great routes to try out around here, including the trail up Moel Famau, the highest summit in the Clwydian Range (10 minutes’ drive) and sections of the Offa’s Dyke Path, which runs nearby. For something a little gentler, head to the limestone landscapes of Loggerheads Country Park (15 minutes) or walk to a waterfall and castle ruins at Wepre Park (20 minutes). For more dips into the area’s history, wander around Flint Castle (20 minutes) and learn about Victorian prison life at Ruthin Gaol Museum (25 minutes). Chester (35 minutes), with its cathedral, city walls and half-timbered buildings, and Llangollen (45 minutes), with a steam railway and horse-drawn canal boats, are other good options for a hit of heritage. Change of scenery? Go north-west to Rhyl (35 minutes) for a day on the sandy beach (or at the SC2 waterpark if it’s damp) or north-east to Liverpool (an hour) for football, music, shopping and some excellent free museums.
