Taking some time to explore the attractions of the Brecon Beacons National Park? Bag a berth at Brecon Beacons Touring Park and you’ll be making your base at a family-run park that’s in an excellent Powys position for getting out and about to see the stunning scenery of the southern and western parts of the park. Just off the A4067 between the villages of Pen-y-Cae and Ynyswen, when you stay at this park, you’ll be well placed for visits to the nearby waterfalls, climbs of Pen y Fan and trips underground at the National Showcaves Centre for Wales. There are heaps of hiking and bike trails nearby to follow (just note, cycling isn't permitted on site) – and if that's not enough to keep you busy, well, you can always set off for the seaside, as the beaches of the Gower Peninsula are less than an hour's drive away. This isn't a park with a long list of facilities, but what has been provided is well designed and well maintained – including the bathroom block, which has heating, a baby changing area and accessible facilities. There’s also a chemical disposal point and a washing-up area, and you’ll be allowed to bring along an off-ground barbecue to do your alfresco meals (although, in another handy location bonus, there also happens to be a food pub a couple of minutes’ walk away…) Children's play areas are at the local villages (both less than half a mile away). Remember, this is a countryside location, so you may encounter midges and other flying insects; it's recommended to pack insect repellent and keep fly screens closed.

Em va agradar Small, friendly campsite.
Owner Janine very friendly on arrival.
Well laid out site - in great location for walks and enjoying the area.
Right behind The Ancient Briton pub - great burgers in their outdoor ‘Little Briton’ food hut.
Make sure you slow down as you approach the pub and turn into the pub car park which is also thr entrance to the campsite - we drove straight past as we didn’t see any signs for the campsite on the road.
Great facility block - exceptionally clean - you’re given a card that opens the toilet/washing up room/elsan doors as otherwise pub users go in - totally understand the need for this although one card between 4 of us was a bit tricky when someone else needed the loo/shower if one of us was already in there. Im sure if we’d have asked we could have had an extra card but we just made it work as only there for short time.
Great little site very relaxed atmosphere.
Local Area:
Were lucky to bump into a local family down at a river spot (follow public footpath opposite Lle Tawe coffee shop) brings you to a lovely river spot perfect for a paddle) who told us about some great river swimming spots (w3w reference.husband.candy) a walk up Carreg Goch to see the remains of a WW2 Wellington Bomber - totally worth the hike (start point is Showcaves car park just up the road - also a camp site there worth a look as its not on PitchUp) there is an information board at the start of the mountain path walk telling you all about the plane crash sites around the Black Mountains.
Wouldn’t bother doing 4 waterfalls walk totally spoiled by too many inconsiderate tourists - so much litter even nappies were being left and sooo busy!
So much to see and do around this area we only had 3 nights here could definitely do with longer.

Em va agradar Lovely little site had a grass pitch no hook up,ground was quite flat only a slight slope used chocks no problem.the lady running the site was was very welcoming and polite she was quite keen to ensure you had a good pitch. Toilets were very clean and tidy.

Em va agradar Facilities. Toilet / shower block was really clean and well maintained. Pitches were reasonably flat. Warm welcome and good communication.

No em va agradar The pub on the corner was a bit noisy and the music lasted a bit longer than I’d expect. The shower was a little underpowered but did the job.

Some of the popular spots nearby include Henrhyd Falls (10 minutes’ drive), the Four Waterfalls Walk (half an hour) and the trails taking you up South Wales’ tallest peak, Pen y Fan (half an hour). For more of an adrenaline rush, take yourselves to the all-weather trails of BikePark Wales (40 minutes) or ride the high-speed ziplines at Zip World Tower (20 minutes). All a bit too much? Settle for a quieter life with a visit to the National Showcaves Centre for Wales (five minutes), animal encounters at Wales Ape & Monkey Sanctuary (five minutes) or a tour and tipple at Penderyn Distillery (20 minutes). Change of scenery? Get down to the Gower Peninsula (around an hour) for beach days and coastal walks – places like Mumbles, Three Cliffs Bay and Rhossili are well worth the longer drive, and there are lots of lovely places to eat along the coast too.
