Solo sorts, families, couples and most of all anglers… come and get sorted at serene and scenic Burton Springs, for a super stay in a Somerset wildlife haven. This peaceful place is at the foot of the Quantock Hills and a nifty base for getting out around the Quantocks, the west Somerset and Exmoor coastline, and smashing Somerset settings like Cheddar Gorge and Glastonbury Abbey, both under 20 miles away. And if your group are fisherfolk? Cast off on site in the three handsome and well-stocked lakes: there's one each of coarse fishing, carp fishing and cat fishing to keep all angling enthusiasts hooked. Please note that fishing is subject to additional charges and must be booked in advance. (Non-fisherfolk have plenty of wildlife to see, walks to wander and quiet spots in which to hide with a book or three.) Burton Springs is well kept all round by its friendly family team, who've added a spankingly clean shower and washroom as well as a washing-up area for guests' use. There's also a games room for all ages, with table football and a dartboard, a selection of board games, DVDs and reading material, and a small play area in the pitching field with a pirate ship, climbing walls, slides and a basket swing. Food and drinks are available to buy in the site shop.

Em va agradar: The site is beautifully peaceful with 2 lovely lakes. They have a fantastic dog field/play area with an obstacle course for the dogs as well as toys. The pitch was a good size and the site has a nice relaxed vibe about it, we also had a fire pit. Nice clean, stocked up toilets and a room with fridge, microwave, air hocky and a chill out area. The owners couldn't have been more helpful (especially as we had a horrible storm) and we're nice and friendly. We will definitely be back.

Em va agradar: Great campsite with all the facilities you could need. Super friendly owners and team who couldn’t have done more for us. Clean showers and toilets, dog friendly play area, great local pub, onsite shop, fire pits for hire with wood available to purchase, pot wash area, hard standing pitches and well-equipped games room with local map of the area and places to visit.

No em va agradar: Touring field could do with more hard standing to lessen the effects of the rain on the grass/mud but otherwise there is very little to dislike about this campsite. It’s just lovely.

Em va agradar: Friendly, clean, organised site. Great en-suite facilities, generous pitches, games room with kettle, microwave , fridge freezer, sofa and dining table and best of all a secure dog play area which my dog absolutely loved. The play area for children looked good as did the fishing pools. A good base for walking the west Somerset coast path.

The games and chillout room is a standout feature, thoughtfully appointed with a variety of entertainment options to suit all ages. Whether you’re looking to engage in some friendly competition or simply relax, this space is perfectly designed for leisure and enjoyment. Cleanliness at Burton Springs is nothing short of exemplary. It’s evident that the same meticulous standards one would expect of a 4-star hotel are upheld here. Every corner, every facility, is maintained with scrupulous care, providing guests with a spotless environment throughout their stay!

Em va agradar: Very clean shower/toilet individual pods, although unisex. Large games room with dining table and chairs, use of microwave, fridge freezer and honesty shop. Pub 10 min walk, not open all week in winter.

No em va agradar: A rectangular field with uniform pitches, no trees/shrubs. The hard standings are small grit which gets everywhere. Fishing customer parking right by pitch 10, woken up at midnight by cars leaving. There’s no motorhome point for filling/emptying.

Del gerent: thank you for your review. We are surrounded by trees and hedges, infact pitch 10 has a hedge running all along the back of it. Theres is a motorhome point for water filling, black and grey waste, it is very clearly marked in the carpark area which is 10 meters away from your pitch. We are in the countryside and pubs in the winter tend to close on quite days, as the foot fall just isn't there for them unfortunately.

Llocs d'interès

Burton Springs' closest chunk of coast is at Burnham-On-Sea about seven and a half miles away. Seaside resort Weston-super-Mare is a few miles further along the coast from Burnham; for the Exmoor coastline, stretches of shoreline and sand like Kilve, Dunster, Minehead and Porlock are a short drive in the other direction. The South West Coast Path, Britain's longest long-distance path, starts from Minehead on its epic 630 miles via the coasts of Devon and Cornwall to finish up at Poole Harbour in Dorset. If this is a tad too much, other hikes around the region include the Quantock Hills, England's first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; Brean Down, a Site of Special Scientific Interest managed by the National Trust, and the Mendip Hills, also an AONB and home to splendidly spectacular Cheddar Gorge. The Burton team also reckons guests should take a look at the small wildlife and adventure park Tropiquaria, the National Trust's Dunster Castle and Fyne Court, the Bakelite Museum at Wilton, the RSPB reserve at Greylake, and the rides and attractions of Brean Leisure Park. Paintballing is available at Cannington Park, nearby at Bridgwater.
