When the choice between beachy hols on the English Riviera and lush wanders in stunningly scenic national parks leaves you dithering, make your decision a doddle with a stay at Widdicombe Farm Touring Park, a family-run and adults-only site 10 minutes’ drive from the seaside town of Paignton on the Devon coast. The site's about 15 minutes from the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and half an hour from Dartmoor National Park, so there are plenty of spectacularly green vistas to hike, bike or drive through within easy reach – not to mention waterfalls, river banks and craggy moors... If the first thing into your suitcase was a swimming cossie, you’ve packed well for this particular getaway: Paignton’s Preston Sands beach is less than 10 minutes away (there’s a shuttle service from the site). If your quick sandy stroll seems to be picking up speed, turn it into a long-distance jaunt by accessing up the South West Coast Path at either end of the beach. There’s a small shop on site for groceries if you fancy bringing picnic supplies on your day trips, or you can hold off for a home-cooked dinner at Poppies, the on-site restaurant (open from Easter to September). After that, wander over to Gordon’s bar for a drink, or to take in the live entertainment.

Em va agradar Well set out site. Very clean. Polite and knowledgeable staff.
2nd time here and in no way dissatisfied with this excellent site. Good dog walking area.
Excellent shower and toilet block.

No em va agradar Bar and restaurant only open on Friday and Saturday, however it was the end of season and quite understandable.

Del gerent: Hi there, next time if you come down when it's not low season you will find the bar open nightly with fantastic entertainment throughout the season. Always tricky to balance everything nearing the end of the season and being dependant on numbers but I know you understand.

Em va agradar Lovely clean site. Staff very welcoming. Toilets & showers were emasculate. Very peaceful. Gordon’s bar was good & drinks prices were reasonable. Food looked lovely. Mini bus into Torquay was excellent door to door service. Will defiantly be going back.

Em va agradar My wife and I loved everything about the stay it was a very friendly site the toilet block was clean the restaurant was great and Gordon’s bar was great fun.

It is fun and as we say 'It is what you make it' so obviously you were up for a good time here and you did enjoy yourselves. I will make sure everyone knows that you have noted the cleanliness of the facilities as they do work hard to keep everything nice and tidy for you. Lovely pictures too.

Good for the 1 or 2 night stay, car was essential for us.

Em va agradar Facilities where excellent, good farm shop. Nice field to walk the dogs.

No em va agradar Can't walk anywhere. Never tried the cafe so can't comment on that. We were on O2 and we had no signal if you wanted WiFi you had to pay extra. We prefer an afternoon drink but the bar did not open until 7.30pm.

Del gerent: It's a shame our location didn't suit you. I am on O2 and don't find a problem getting a signal but I know it can depend on individual phone models. I'll find out which pitch you were on and go up to test the signal strength to check it out though as it may be a weak spot. We don't open the bar during the day as it has never proved worth while. Most people are out and about so do not need that particular facility during the day.

Make your way into Torquay a 15-minute drive away for the Agatha Christie Mile – a walking tour of spots that inspired the author – and Kents Cavern, a prehistoric cave that served as Hampsley Cavern in her novel The Man in the Brown Suit. For a glimpse of Christie’s personal life, Greenway House at Brixham is where she spent summer and Christmas hols. If Greenway House whet your appetite for stately homes, zip along to Compton Castle (five minutes) for house and garden tours, or Cockington Country Park (10 minutes) for strolls around the extensive grounds and a glimpse of Cockington Court (now a craft centre).
