Come to North Devon for a stay in the grounds of a 17th-century manor house. Part open and part woodland, Smytham Holiday Park is in its own cloistered valley with bicycle hire directly on site and access to the Tarka Trail. It's also a rural and family-run site with 33 acres to its name, plus lots of wildlife and ponds to wander around, all part of the North Devon World Biosphere Reserve. Two outdoor heated pools are open in high season, one with a mushroom water feature and a sun terrace. There's plenty of room for running about and playing games on site (if you’ve forgotten a football/cricket kit for evening games, ask at the site reception and they’ll see you sorted), as well as a miniature golf area. A small outdoor play area is on site too, alongside an indoor games room with air hockey, table football, table tennis, a small soft play area and a pool table. And if you fancy a cool drink, head to the family bar, which throws open its doors at peak periods (including the complete school summer holidays). Smytham Holiday Park is a mile from the gardens at RHS Rosemoor and an accessible drive from the wilds of both Dartmoor and Exmoor. A day at the north Devon coast, including the beaches of Westward Ho!, Saunton Sands and Croyde Bay, is around nine to 15 miles from the site.

It is also open Friday and Saturday evenings during Easter, May, June and July.

Cabana pod (apte per a famílies)

Em va agradar The pool was brilliant and facilities were excellent. The staff were also very kind and let us have a late check out due to one of the party being sick. Will come again.

Em va agradar Loved the size of the pitches and how well kept the whole site was, especially the toilet/shower block! We were even more lucky with the weather! Great trip overall, thank you Smytham!

No em va agradar The only dislike was the WiFi coverage! Just wasn’t great for the evenings when the children were having some chill out time, but other than that.. nothing to complain about😊

Em va agradar Great place the kids loved it, all facilities were clean! Loved the different food trucks and they were great at making sure we were all camped close together :) will be back!

No em va agradar Only bad thing was the chlorine in the pool must of been a bit strong as made our eyes sore! Didn’t stop us using it a couple times a day though!

Em va agradar Good sized and condition of pitches. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Small shop on site. Toilets and showers were good and always clean. Good selection of activities. The pool was a great addition.

No em va agradar Only thing we think could have made our stay better was some parasols around the pool.

Em va agradar Very very clean. Pool was perfect, good timings, clean. Toilets very clean and showers and never too crowded. Lots facilities - bar, dog wash, laundrette, games room, golf, shop, pool. Free WiFi. Good sized pitches. Also, very nice staff, just friendly and chilled.

No em va agradar Not the parks fault but no pubs nearby with car parks that seem to be open or advertised. Torridge has very little going on. But next time we’ll just bring more food and stay on site :)

Em va agradar Really good facilities, and a nice site. The pool was a great little addition and our pitch was conveniently nearby, in fact most things were really convenient. We will definitely be back to stay again.

No em va agradar Our pitch neighbours didn’t seem to want to abide by the rules around dogs, but the team were quick to address it when we raised it.

Em va agradar Really well thought out site, they have thought of everything. I really liked that even though there is a small bar and a pool, the atmosphere is more intimate than a larger holiday park. Grounds were well kept and maintained, there is a huge football area for games. Kids loved the games room. Site is very well located to access the Tarka Trail. We were camping in the walled garden which i thought would be a bit too public as it is where the pool is, but it was fine. Plenty of showers and toilets and even a handy wash area for beach stuff. Friendly staff in the shop which has the basics you might need.

The 180 miles of the Tarka Trail are accessible from Smytham Holiday Park, following the route of Tarka the otter from the Henry Williamson book. Elsewhere, hire a bike in nearby Great Torrington for the easy 11-mile pedal along the banks of the Torridge river to Bideford; if walking, head out straight from the site or catch a bus from Great Torrington to explore the four-mile trail from Weare Giffard. The area is a wildlife haven: the North Devon Biosphere was one of the first six UNESCO biosphere sites designated in the UK and covers an area from the heights of Dartmoor and Exmoor down via the sea to Lundy Island. Nature of a different sort can be seen at Bideford’s famed and decidedly individual The Big Sheep and one of dozens of days out in Devon suitable for the kids: take the family along also to the Milky Way Adventure Park, also in Bideford, or to the clay shooting and zorbing of Barnstaple’s Southdown Adventure Park. Plant fans should visit the 65 acres of RHS Rosemoor, a mile from the manor, and Hartland Abbey and Gardens at Bideford, a 12th-century abbey with restored woodland gardens.
