Surrounded by mature trees, the family-friendly grass pitches at Gatehouse Wood Country Park are somewhat unusual – for they were created on the relics of an old quarry. Found 20 minutes’ drive from Sevenoaks, this peaceful site puts you right in the middle of the Garden of England, within easy reach of the Kent Downs National Landscape, Royal Tunbridge Wells and the Kent coast. The park is just off the A20 at the bottom of Wrotham Hill, so it’s also a handy stopover if you’re London or Dover bound – in fact the train to London leaves from the village of Borough Green (10 minutes’ drive) if you fancy a day sightseeing in the big city. Hikers (and any accompanying dogs) will also be pleased to know that Gatehouse Wood is only a few minutes’ walk from both the Weald Way and the Pilgrims Way. On-park facilities include spotless shower blocks with heated showers, hand dryers and shaving points, plus a separate accessible facility and a fully equipped laundry room. Friendly staff members are on hand with information on the local area. Barbecues are allowed (off the ground only please), but if you prefer not to cook there’s a foodie pub just five minutes’ walk away and several restaurants close by too. Borough Green has pretty much everything else you could need, from supermarkets and a chemist to hairdressers, cafés and a posh spa.

  • Es recomana als hostes portar una llanterna de bona qualitat, ja que algunes parts de l'establiment no estan ben il·luminades.

Em va agradar: Fab quiet campsite, staff really great and helpful and toilets and showers clean. Nice walk around campsite,. Position of site well placed for our needs and will definitely stay there again.

Em va agradar: From the lovely welcome from Caroline and her husband to them waving us off on our departure, we could not fault them, they could not do enough! The site itself and the amenities were spotlessly kept tidy and as others have mentioned lovely coffee and accompaniments. Thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay. Some wont like the lack of things to do in the immediate vicinity and noise from the nearby roads but for us, it was the perfect place to switch off. We look forward to returning again, perhaps with our grandchildren in Iggi next time? Thanks again we loved it.

Em va agradar: Lovely lady in charge. Pitches gravel recently laid. Clean site. Not really a site for a break or holiday as nothing near by

Em va agradar: Well set out site, pitches were of a good size. Toilet facilities were reasonably modern, kept clean and tidy. No complaints there. Surrounded by trees, with some wildlife about. Good travel links into London just a few miles away.

Em va agradar: The campsite was picture perfect the staff were all very friendly and full of information about the place, we stayed a couple of nights and it was so peaceful we would definitely recommend this site and we of course will be coming back again to stay.

Em va agradar: Quiet, beautiful surroundings with a lovely walk around the perimeter. Very friendly staff. Small play area in the centre and they thought to put us on a pitch where our child could get to it without crossing the road, very thoughtful.
Excellent cafe on site.

Em va agradar: This is our second time here,in our beautiful Bavaria Allure called “Froggy”Everything about it was perfect . The big gravel hard standing pitch with a big grass patch to the side. The constant sunshine and most of all the clean lovely toilet block . The staff are so friendly and ever so helpful. We got a good deal through pitch up and will be going back again .

Very friendly service added extra have a small cafe available .
The toilets and showers both male and female were extremely clean and plenty of space .( not tiny cubicles) .

There’s certainly plenty to keep history buffs happy in this corner of Kent; the gorgeous and moated National Trust-owned Ightham Mote (15 minutes’ drive) has opulent interiors packed with Tudor and Jacobean decorative arts, and the family can easily spend a whole day watching falconry displays and whizzing down zipwires at Leeds Castle (20 minutes), where there are also lavish apartments open for tours. Got green fingers? Be inspired by the park at Penshurst Place and Gardens (half an hour), laid out in formal plantings and woodland walks, or visit Hever Castle and Gardens (35 minutes), an enticing mash-up of medieval and Tudor architecture with walled flower beds and waterside walks. Sporting types can play a round or two on local golf courses (the nearest is five minutes’ drive away), and there are several fisheries within 40 minutes by car. If you’re looking for something more high-octane, there are frequent driver experiences and track days at Brands Hatch (15 minutes), the home of British motor racing. Teenage shopping addicts with you? They’ll be pleased to know that Lakeside Shopping Centre is just half an hour away.
