The Woodland Retreat

With red squirrels, buzzards, jays and other woodland creatures, The Woodland Retreat is a wildlife haven on the Isle of Wight. The woodland setting is just a 15-minute walk from Fishbourne, where there is a ferry service to Portsmouth. You needn't bring a car either, as bus stops are only a five-minute walk away from the site. The Woodland Retreat is all about relaxing and meeting new people. As well as having woodland creatures, it has stunning trees, plants and flowers, and it feels very tucked away despite being so close to the local village and public transport. It’s just a 20-minute walk from the local monastery Quarr Abbey, which has a tearoom and peaceful gardens. Beaches are also within striking distance, including Woodside Beach (a 45-minute walk or a 35-minute trip by bus) and the beaches in Ryde (a 20-minute bus trip). There are splendid walks from The Woodland Retreat to Ryde, beaches and Quarr Abbey. The local village is Wootton Bridge, a 20-minute walk or a five-minute bus away. It has a food shop, a couple of restaurants, a pizzeria, charity shops, a pharmacy and a lovely lake.
