To Hampshire for a holiday in a rather relaxed kid-free spot? Meadow Tree Farm is a nearly-wild site with basic facilities on a working beef farm. Friendly and adults-only, it is spread over 21 acres on the edge of the village of Sherfield English, about 10 minutes' drive from Romsey. There's plenty of space for you (and any doggie companions you may have brought along) to chill out on site and, most importantly, a cosy country pub a gentle 15-minute stroll away. Fishing lakes are next door and there are fab trails for ramblers and cyclists a few miles away in the New Forest National Park. Back at base the laidback vibe is preserved by keeping facilities to a minimum, but the essentials are all in place, including toilets, showers and a washing-up area. Sounds good? You'd better be quick: Meadow Tree Farm is a pop-up site that's only open for a limited amount of time each year.

  • Meadow Tree Farm allows large groups, including stag and hen parties. While every effort is made to ensure the comfort of all guests, please be aware that some noise should sometimes be expected. Fires must be contained in a fit for purpose container raised at least 10cm (4 inches) above the ground. Guests may be asked not to have any campfire if the risk of wildfires is too high.

Em va agradar: When i arrived was greeted by owner, who explained how things work. Was so nice. The sit felt safe. After a while the lady came and checked everything okay. Nice/pretty surroundings. Toilets and shower very basic but for a couple of nights this is nit an issue.

Em va agradar: This was a great stay. The hosts were friendly and stopped for a chat each morning to check that we were ok. Dogs were allowed off the lead which was a nice treat, lots of dogs playing in the fields. Got to see the young cows. Overall, a great stay!

Em va agradar: The peace and quiet and the space we were given for our campervan, very dog friendly too as we had our two staffies with us

No em va agradar: The toilet blocks, but the owner did tell us that it was to be renewed and was very apologetic about it and they were unisex too, i would have preferred seperate male and female toilets

Em va agradar: Relaxed atmosphere, friendly laid back hosts. Beautiful woodland site where nothing felt packed in/crowded, will 100% be returning.

Em va agradar: Location was perfect, owner welcomed us on arrival, owner (Kylie) was always around chatting to guests or helping others, peace and quiet, noise on site was monitored - a lovely break - thank you. (Close to New Forest National Park (15 mins away), Salisbury Cathedral 25 minutes…lots to do nearby if needed.

No em va agradar: A minor detail - shower and toilets were clean and maintained but unisex was a little off putting but ok for 2 nights and no problems. We were aware of this and owner explained facilities as well.

Em va agradar: Adult only site. Plenty of room to pitch with friends and fire pits were available (First come first served).
Toilets and showers were clean with really hot water.

No em va agradar: Bit boggy in areas. Mostly dry though so not really an issue.

Llocs d'interès

Bring your boots along, for there’s much rural rambling to be done in the New Forest National Park around a 10-minute drive from Meadow Tree Farm. Bike trails run through the forest too, and you can saddle up to see the wildlife from horseback at a riding centre a few minutes’ drive from the site. Other open-air activities nearby include teeing off at one of the golf courses within a 15-minute drive or swinging through the trees at the Go Ape park half an hour away. Sailing lessons and boat trips can be had from Southampton or Lymington, both within a 45-minute drive. For history-infused days out, head to Sailsbury or pay a visit to Romsey Abbey, Breamore House or the vintage car collection at Beaulieu, all of which are within a half an hour’s drive. For animal antics, Marwell Zoo is also about half an hour away.
