One could base oneself at Pennine View Caravan Park for months on end to investigate the hundreds of miles' worth of spectacular paths in the area: the site is on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, a short drive from both the Lake District National Park and the North Pennines. Walks and cycle routes catering for all tastes from gentle country strolls to challenging mountain bike trails are all around here, or you could tackle lush River Eden trout fishing, horse riding or paragliding close by, or mooch around the mighty natural attractions in the area like High Force Waterfall, or pick up local produce in Cumbrian market towns, or potter around the region's many old houses and castles… Family-run Pennine View is well placed for the lot from its Cumbrian setting, in countryside a mile from the market town of Kirkby Stephen. It's across the road from the volunteer-run heritage Stainmore Railway Company, where there are several locomotives and rolling stock to see. The caravan park itself is in fact part of a historic railway goods yard – something you'll no doubt note when you stop by at its Engine Shed bar for drinks and takeaway food (on selected nights) in a characterful and welcoming spot. Facilities on site include a playground, free wifi, a covered washing-up area, a launderette with washing machine and tumble dryer, and amenity blocks with baby bath, disabled facilities and free hot showers – just the ticket after a satisfactory day striding o'er the local moors…

Em va agradar Staff were friendly and helpful. Facilities were very clean and warm. Showers were hot and no push button operation. Loved the area, also a good field adjacent to the site for dog walking. Onsite bar was nice and priced reasonably, takeaway breakfast bar was also a good plus and very tasty.

No em va agradar Wearing. Although it was the end of October/ beginning of November.

Em va agradar Very friendly staff throughout. Fantastically clean facilities for all camping functions from water waste through to showers and toilets.
Efficient check in function.
The Engine Shed was absolutely awesome and the choice and quality of food on offer was the best in Iver twenty years of camping/caravanning and motorhoming.
Great location close to the town centre with a number of walking routes available.
Wi-Fi was awesome, so much so we didn't need any other suppliers (starlink or sims) for our needs which included streaming etc.
We will definitely be returning.

No em va agradar As a real ale drinker there could have been a better choice in the Engine Shed but it's really a subjective comment. It all depends on footfall and usage.

Em va agradar A very friendly welcome to a beautiful park. Everything was wonderful. Pitches were spacious & level. Great facilities with an immaculate shower block & amazing showers.
Lovely bar inside & out with friendly staff.
Good choice of food with the added benefit of a breakfast hub on a weekend.
Close to lovely walks & within easy reach of the town.

No em va agradar The only thing was the hookup was a bit far away from our pitch so had to use an extension.

No em va agradar I was on pitch 2 and our friend on pitch 3 I reported to u that I could not get the tv to work u gave me a number to ring is name was John but cold not do anythingas he said it was out aerial he charged me £40 for nothing go back home today and tried the tv and it worked so.it was the signal on the cape so I payed £40 for nothing so would like u to refund me the money if u can ring me on 0749 6529410 asap before I leave feedback my friend was on pitch 3 and he had the same problem but I only had John from Apple something can u give me a call as I am not very happy joe mason

Del gerent: Hi Joe, sorry you feel this way. Most people can get TV signal on site however we do advise publicly that it isn’t perfect for reception, as we are nestled among many trees and hills. The pitches you were on are usually relatively good for signal.
Unfortunately if you have called an external mobile repair company to come to your van we cannot refund this as it is completely out of our control.

Walking routes start from the site and crisscross all over the nearby Yorkshire Dales National Park, around local town Kirkby Stephen, up the Howgill Fells and through the countryside of the Eden Valley. To see it all from way up high, paragliding is available within half a mile of Pennine View. The nearby River Eden has some spectacular fishing, all accessible a mile from the site. Wild brown trout are the main haul on the stretch of river managed by the Kirkby Stephen & District Angling Association, whose members are happy to take visitors out along the water (remember you'll need a fishing permit). Day tickets are available, with free fishing for under-18s. Horse riding can be had four miles away, and the mountain bike trails in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Beauty within five. The waters, boating and miles more walks of the Lake District National Park are 10 miles away. If you want to see how folk have lived in the area throughout the centuries, the Dales Countryside Museum in Hawes is a good place to start; happily, the town is home to the Wensleydale Creamery too.
