South Yorkshire activity seekers: sorted. Hatfield Outdoor Activity Centre and Campsite on the outskirts of Doncaster has quite the heap of active options on site – and is in an area with plenty more in the surrounds, from golf to hiking to hurtling around indoors at the Doncaster Dome. The active options on site are land and water based, and include courses, group sessions, team building, parties, canoeing and outdoor swimming. Or you could just use the site as a base to potter around Doncaster and South Yorkshire, or as an overnight stopover easy to access because of its nifty links to the national motorway network. This site is family friendly, with facilities including a toilet and shower block, a chemical disposal point, a washing-up area and a deep sink for clothes washing. A play area and vending machines are also on site. It's a 10-minute walk to the old town of Hatfield, where supplies can be picked up at the local newsagent, post office, mini-market and off-licence and bakery; there are also restaurants and pubs for all manner of eats and drinks. Responsible dog owners are welcome at the site.

  • Si feu foc, heu de comprar el combustible, els troncs i el carbó a l'establiment.
  • Teniu en compte que els lavabos/dutxes són unisex.
  • Està prohibit banyar-se al llac.
  • No hi ha recepció a l'establiment: a l'arribada, poseu-vos en contacte amb el número que apareix en la confirmació de la reserva.
  • The Aquapark is open from 24 May, and dry and water activities are available from 27 April. Please note, however, that activities are subject to weather conditions and temperatures.

Em va agradar: The staff are very welcoming, the kids love the facilities on site, it's a short walk into the village with a couple of bars restaurants and shops. The lake is great for paddleboarding which you can either hire or launch your own .

No em va agradar: Although the Toilets were cleaned they could do with cleaning a bit more regular but the staff were in low season so to be expected.

Em va agradar: Our third stay at this lovely site! Pitches were well maintained and we asked for a pitch next to the toilet block which we were given (very much appreciated). Check in was smooth and quick. All staff are super friendly and know their stuff 😊 toilets were being cleaned all day, every day which made for very clean facilities. No trailing through mud to the shower or lack of toilet roll like you see at some campsites! The little shop is well stocked and the activities were great! Archery was brill with lots of games and girls v boys competitions! My 11 and 9 year old girls loved it, as did us adults! The cafe has delicious pizzas and coffees and the kids enjoyed a few slush drinks. Our last two stays were pre-covid and just after the lockdown and we must say, this site just keeps improving every time we go! We'll be back soon!

Em va agradar: Stayed here for the Easter weekend lovely site clean had all what you need shop cafe and lovely countryside park for the kids. Not all activities were available due to time of year but still got to do the climbing wall kids really enjoyed it.

Em va agradar: Clean, tidy site with helpful knowledgable staff who were always on hand. Food and drinks at the cafe were nice. Would definitely recommend the pizza. Good little shop with essentials and extra camping tools and equipment. We were pitched next to our friends a family with two children. It was great that tents, motorhomes and caravans could pitch next to each other so we could sit out together. (We have a tent, they have a motorhome) Ground was great for the tent, no huge lumps or bumps and well looked after grass. The activities were great and look forward to staying again when it's warmer and the aqua park is open. Location is great and close to the motorway.

Em va agradar: Good reasonably clean facilities within the campsite. Also kids play park areas were good and short distance from the tent. The campsite is near towns so good for replenishing camp supplies. Staff were really friendly and helpful.

No em va agradar: Location of pitch was near road entrance, a little noisy but not too much. No WiFi signal in campsite for at night.

Doncaster town centre with its market is a 20-minute drive away, or you could get one of the buses running regularly to there from the Hatfield high street. If you're at Hatfield Outdoor Activity Centre and Campsite to be an active sort, head to the 25-metre pool, sports hall and gym of Thorne Leisure Centre 10 minutes away, to the Crookhill Park Golf Course half an hour's drive away, or to the 50 or so indoor and energetic activities of Doncaster Dome. Other good options in the area are the Yorkshire Wildlife Park eight miles from the site, Doncaster Racecourse, Pennines hikes to the county's west, a day out in Scunthorpe, or a wander around Yorkshire's many historic houses, like the halls of Normanby, Doddington and Brodsworth. Nature-spotting options are around at Humberhead Peatlands National Nature Reserve, home to over 5,000 species of plants and animals, and Potteric Carr Nature Reserve, with flocks of bitterns among other wading birds.
